The silver templars are basically ultramarines who are fans of black templars and might have an addiction to Adderall, since they have a reputation for being even more hyper focus than other chapters and other primaris.

The rank of 'Ancient' in this context probably derives from the real-world historical role of Ancients, being standard bearers, in early-modern militaries. They used to carry the standard and is the origin of the more familiar rank of ensign these days. I don't think it is supposed to refer to their actually being old, as the narrator suggests. Though I suppose these details get lost in the 38,000 year interval.

Dunno if you saw the 40k news lately, Baldermort; the Black templars are not happy with the Primaris. They are very angry with Guilliman. It seems they're gearing for a civil war because they see Cawl as a heretic, messing with the Emperor's work. As for me, as someone who LOATHES Primaris, I'm very happy with this news. I hope the black templars (despite my love for the Eladirith Ynneas and OldCrons) prove victorious against Cawl and the Primaris are all sent to the chaos legions.

Sound like the ascetic of the iron hands mixed with salamanders habit of falling in love with their crafted weapons with the combat doctrine of the black templars. The bit about chasing a drukhari band across the sector and dying just to gain back one's honor after being disarmed reminds me why my space marine force is plain ultramarines... so many of the other founding chapters are just chaotic stupid. Edit: and yet with one degree of separation ultramarines become these stark raving lunatics.

Primarus Space Marines a great concept ruined by GW losing all ability not to write absolute shit. Welp i can't wait for the Primarus to finally settle in and good writing to finally fix the 40k immersion breaking bullshit. Love that A.B Prince holds a tone of contempt and suspicion like the Inquisition should when it comes to the suddenly revived Guilliman, and these weird Cawl fellow who just pulls tech like what was in the Vault of Mars out of nowhere. 10/10 better than the writing GW has employed, they should learn to write from you...even if you're just reading their lore, the tone that fits the character rather than the tone of 'mary sue worshipping side character' is all the difference we need.

@@ABorderPrince pretty much... more having trouble with GW'S marketing and how some of Guilliman's decisions and all of Cawl's actions are written off as good, when those very things typically lead to betrayal, even the Horus Heresy. GW could have just marketted the Primarus as "these are awesome new marines, their new and inexperienced and they need 'your'/*insert named chapter master*'s guidance to become a competent part of the Imperium, lead them well 40k fan." Insteas we got "they're unproven but they're better than better because their immune to bad stuff and perfect." While producing 20+ models for the same table top unit rather than a single flexable model and some named characters saving the company on the cost of 20+ new models for the same or more sales for like 10 total.

I really enjoyed this video. The Silver Templar being my favorite successor chapter made it all the more fun to listen to. The Templar subscribe to the idea of the machine spirit in their traditions of "bonding" with their created weapons. This makes me wonder what if any relations they have with the Mechanicus, or by extension the Iron Hands.
