I'm actually made an appointment this morning at 730 to do an assessment with a drug and alcohol counselor. When you said there is a difference between being clean and sober really hit home. Thank you for everything you've shared

I hope you had a good experience. Recovery IS possible, but all people are different, so no one solution will work for everyone.

I’ve been sober now 2 years 8 months.. I’m going to school after my 3 year sober anniversary for this field. AA has helped me grasp these skills you’re speaking of through a 12 step program. I’m a recovering alcoholic.

Low-key watching old KZbin videos makes me feel a bit old despite being a zoomer. I will say that even though it's old it's still valuable. I'm planning to be a LMHT with a main focus in addiction and mental health. I seriously appreciate doctors like yourself who post this sort of stuff that costs so much in university.

Very informative. I’m going to school at SNHU for psychology with a concentration in addiction and child and adolescents. Yes I hope to be where you are soon. I want to help addicts and their family members who don’t have health insurance.

If we say we are strong what we are really saying is that I am self sufficient, I am perfect, I am without flaw. That we don't need aid from anyone. But we are all flawed, we are weak. But thou we are weak God is all powerful and in him we are more than conquerers. Take everything to God in prayer and you will have none of your own burdens to bare.

Though we are weak he is strong. When we are brought to our knees we need to turn to God. Because in him we are more than conquerers. It's not by our own strength but by God's.

Here's a challenge: What do we so to those whose lives have not only become but have been hopeless? What do we say to those whose lives have always been bad for many unfixable reasons? Why would they quit a substance when the consequences have been there, but the situation was never really redeemable? There are some very real underpinnings in nearly any addiction. Is it possible that some of these causes cannot be reconciled and so perhaps some situations are a lost cause? Could it be that life should be short and high since the ride is essentially predestined? I know I'm not making a good argument for rehabilitation, but perhaps this should be considered.

Hello, really enjoyed your Contant. my name is Anthony. I’m 49 I work as a peer support specialist for college community services Pathways Opportunity Knocks I am a registered addiction counselor and I’m still in school to become a certified substance-abuse counselor I facilitate and co-facilitate groups at my program. what advice do you have? If you have people that don’t believe in the 12 step process, I tell my members everyone’s recovery is going to be different. I tell them there’s alternative routes that they can take. I’ve been sober from heroin and meth for 15 years.
