690,000 people, at £120 a year to be able to nurse, equals £82,800,000 paid by the nurses of UK. That is one serious amount of money!

Exactly what I thought, and have thought for some time. Seems to me that some people have made a nice niche for themselves on the back of raising registration fees soooo far and above inflation rate and without any form of input, or opinion, or ability to dissent or comeback from nurses, midwives or associates themselves. My opinion is that pretty much everything done by the NMC could, and should, be done at a local level and we are blindly funding a largely unnecessary mammoth. Some things may be necessary to do at a national level but not £83m worth!!!!!!!

No wonder nurses continue to leave the profession in large numbers..

If you’re thinking about becoming a nurse in the UK, run a mile. Seriously, emigrate and work in a country where you are not likely to be shafted by a corrupt and lawless regulating body such as the NMC. They brainwash you with the Holy Bible AKA The CODE which has more proverbs and chapters than the bible. If you do mistakenly trip up, then you are the real poor Daniel in the Den of lions and liars. They act as judge and jury, you are guilty as sin until proven otherwise and the coercion/ manipulation to keep your registration is something else. You’ve been warned. Run a mile.

It's less money than most registered professionals have to pay! And I can't imagine what it costs to maintain a registering body, undertake fitness to practice hearings, monitor revalidation, approve and validate educational programmes...

Message to the NMC: with the state of the NHS, chronically underfunded, under-resourced, over-managed with fat cats, a totally BROKEN system where nurses work tirelessly day-in-day-out at the coal-face for pittance, the abuse, physical/ emotional drainage, and then your scrutiny and criticism. That only takes one sort of person, and that is someone special who CARES. They do it because THEY CARE. YOU ARE BREAKING THESE NURSES UNFORGIVABLY, adding insult to their injuries. Shame on you

In what way is the NMC doing the breaking? It looks to me much more like it's the government creating these issues.
