Seems like more of an ad with absolutely no info on plumbing apprenticeships.

im a plumbing apprentice of a year in California, i worked a lot of jobs but plumbing is by far so much fun. You make decent money just choosing between commercial and residential is tough choice residential serves the people so those are the plumbers that fix pipes at houses im a commercial apprentice right now. If you get with a good company you will learn fast, im non union so im running pipe already. If you join the apprentice union you will make a few more bucks but you wont get to lay or hang pipe for four years, you basically cut pipe get tools and dig. After four years you begin learning to be a journeyman you then take a test on how to plumb and you get a certificate, and your wages will be through the roof. Where i live a commercial journeyman makes $90-$140 an hour. Plumbing may seem easy but its one of the more harder trades, Like you can become a sheet rocker and learn it in a month. Plumbing takes years to master. On a side note if you become a plumber be ready to buy LOTS of tools the trade requires an absurd amount of tools. I would recommend plumbing to anyone who is not afraid of hard work. You will dig someday for 8 hours straight when you are an apprentice.

I'm in PHX,az and I'm interested in being a plumber helper apprentice how do I get hired on with no experience or do I not need experience they basically train u what's needed or do I need some classes or schooling ? Please help me

Jacob. It's been said that a house mouse can do commercial, but a commercial plumber can't do houses. Partially true. A plumber should be able to do it all. Don't be pigeon holed! Setting finish teaches you why you do what you do on rough in. Ever need advice, let me know. I've been a plumber since 1976 and it's not like I took time off to do something else. :>) California Master Plumber

If you live in Canada and. want an apprenticeship don't bother with apprentice search, just move to Alberta. I looked for an apprenticeship in Ontario for nearly 3 years but no one would take me on as a first year in Ontario. I had 3 offers (1 plumbing, 2 electrical) on my 2nd day in Calgary and have been working as an apprentice plumber since March.
@apprenticesearch11 жыл бұрын
Sorry you had such a tough time in Ontario finding an apprenticeship. We have a good track record but because we have a large population here in Ontario and your lack of experience you had a lot of competition. Best of luck out West, email us at admin@apprenticesearch.com or give us a call 1.877.905.2748 if you would like to discuss your experience.

+crephotos Good to know but I doubt we'd get hired on in Alberta due to the lack of jobs out there now.

Shaine MacDonald yeah things changed quickly out here. There's still work in the city...if you are already indentured as an apprentice or are a Journeyman it's still not too hard to find a job here but if you are trying to get your foot in the door it's probably rough. I'm in school for my 3rd year at the moment and am back to work as a 4th year in march. Fortunately I have no debts and just rent here so if shit hits the fan I can go wherever there's work.

I agree 100%. I was born and raised in Toronto and worked as a plumber and carpenter helper after high school. I found it impossible obtaining an apprenticeship in Ontario. Getting indentured in Ontario is like winning lotto Max and 649 in the same week. i know many people in this situation too. Enless you personally know someone who owns a company you won't get in. I ended up studying welding for one year at Sheridan College because in Ontario there no such thing as apprentice/journeyman welders, you don't even need a CWB ticket. Agencies will hire you for $13-17$/ hr. Ask any welder in the GTA. I welded for 4 yrs in Ontario before moving to ftmak to get into plumbing my dream. In which case that was impossible too nectar everything is unionized on site with overfilled members without work during 2013. Finally the grey clouds parted and become a plumber apprentice in Edmonton. I hate watching commercials on TV about trying to get younger people involved in trades because nobody wants to do it, bullshit I know sooo many ppl that can't even get in !!!..The government is trying to create an artificial demand to flood the market with tradesman to lower the wages or make us cheaper
@TiberiusStorm9 жыл бұрын
Adam Husse Good to know! I thought I was going crazy because I kept reading how there are no trades people and we should get into it but I had NO IDEA how and was beyond frustrated. My brother says that immigrants like Mexican's come up to Canada and will do the work for half the pay we will so he told me to not even bother trying to get a trade. But I'm still interested even despite all this just not sure how to go about it. I lived in NS for a while and it was no easier there!

While I tend to agree with you when applied to certain areas of North America (the western U.S.)and the woeful lack of training, Canada and Europe have strong trade programs. The U.S. east of the Mississippi river? A better climate than the west. Specifically, in larger cities.nepotism is rife in the union trades. Though not a building trade, firefighters is a good example. I've been a plumber for 42 years. Time spent in a union?.... 3 months. Truth be told, I live in a rural area and didn't want to travel. I did take advantage of the V.A.apprenticeship program. That supplemented my starting take home pay of $116.00 a week in 1976

You may think you're a master plumber after 6 years. Ahem... no. Maybe after 16 years. By saying it's easy gives you away and insults we that have been doing it for 40 years. A little humility goes a long way.
