Nice tech and you deserve this stuff Jed after doing the hard yards with more primitive setups over the years. Enjoy🤙

It gets even better. Stay tuned

As long as this unit doesnt fry alternators or neglect charging starter battery in the process?
@IntoTheMystery13Ай бұрын
My alternator will be just fine. On an older car it might become an issue though.

I wonder if I could charge a power station using the battery of a hybrid engine (through an inverter) and would it be as quick as this device? That would be a good hack.

Nice 👍🏻 and cool you understand all that stuff, everything you said went right over my head 🤣 all this new technology is just amazing.

Ive been running a 40amp dc to dc charger on my power bank , at most id have to run my van 30 mins or less to rec a full charge. If i were to up grade , etracker be my go to , since the bluetti dc to dc cost is out of reach 4 most van lifers 🎉🎉🎉

It's good to hear about powerbank charging options. I think this description is above beginner stage in terms of explaining as even I had a bit of a challenge understanding some parts of the video. But overall this device is a must have for most nomads especially if you are full time. I like the charging speeds at idle, that's a huge difference. I also wonder if the alternator was upgraded, could you run 2 of these of the electrical system simultaneously to charge 2 powerbanks.
@IntoTheMystery132 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback? What parts were hard to understand? You could totally do that to charge two power stations, but you’d be better off getting a big lithium battery and dc to dc charger and solar to charge the power station. I plan on getting a high output alternator to run two 50 amp (700 watt) dc to dc chargers to charge a 300 ah (3600 wh) battery that will charge my power station three times. Stay tuned I’m actively working on this setup and there will be a video.

Seems like the on/off switch should be on only when needed. A dead battery is a bummer. You would have to use the Bluetti to charge the battery back up.
@IntoTheMystery132 ай бұрын
Agreed. I have a little jump start pack that I keep topped off. It hasn’t been an issue yet though other than the washer machine.
@BushRat2532 ай бұрын
That'll make keeping your battery topped off so much easier!

Sincere question, is there a reason you are not using the BLUETTI Charger 1+DC Input?
@IntoTheMystery132 ай бұрын
I’d need a separate solar controller that outputs the correct voltage for the bluetti, the dc to dc part doesn’t have as much power, and it would end up being more expensive. You can’t use any solar panel with the bluetti, it has very specific requirements that are not typical. They want you to use their portable solar panels. Most of these power station companies are like Apple and want you to use their ecosystem. The etaker is much easier to adapt. I didn’t pay for the etaker unit, they sent it out to me to test. It’s probably the best unit on the market for most people with single input power stations though.

seems cool, but i wonder if i'd always be worried about a drained battery.. maybe something like a battery isolation relay would work?
@IntoTheMystery132 ай бұрын
It’s a possibility! You could always wire up a relay off of a trigger wire to interrupt the power wire if it became an issue. If it becomes an issue I’ll make a video about it.
@adventureswithgnomie65532 ай бұрын
There's a switch to turn it off to prevent it draining the battery. Jed said it in first minute of the video. I am sure a battery disconnect is easy to install for redundancy.

Is there an issue with the Bluetti AC180? It's not the first time I've heard someone having to return their Bluetti for repair. I've heard a lot of good things about Bluetti, but now I'm wondering if I should get one. I don't have a lot of money and I don't want to make a mistake.
@IntoTheMystery132 ай бұрын
I’m sure all of the companies have a certain percentage of units that need repair. It’s kind of the nature of manufacturing. If you are depending on it for power full time I’d suggest building your own system. Bluetti took care of me with this repair and have a 5 year warranty, but I was without power for three weeks while it got sent off. If it were a diy system I could have ordered the little tiny part I needed on Amazon and had it the next day. Could’ve bought the equivalent part locally too. Plus with diy you aren’t nearly as limited on how fast you can charge the system, and it’s easier and much cheaper to expand. Stay tuned, I’m working on a power station vs diy video.
@burghdewd2 ай бұрын
@@IntoTheMystery13O.k cool, thank you! I hadn't considered DIY but that's a great idea. I've read that the rigid panels are better at charging than the flexible ones. if I remember correctly, Will Prowse said to avoid the flexible ones. I'll have to think about this some more, looking forward to your video, thanks again.

Question: In a comment below you mention you plan to upgrade your alternator. For now is your alternator the OEM? Could I run this setup on my alternator? (I have a 24’ 4R TRD ORP same color as yours 🤙) Thanks!
@IntoTheMystery13Ай бұрын
Yes my alternator is the stock 130amp for the offroad and pro, same as yours. No worries running it in your 4Runner.
@CrippleCreekStudiosАй бұрын
@ Thanks man. I just ordered a Bluetti AC180 (Black Friday!!) and have read about over-taxing your alternator. My plan is to go power station route rather than dedicated second battery system. I’m basically building a Overlanding rig where I return home after a one or two trip out West.

I've got a DIY system, I've been looking for something like this, but unfortunately everything I've seen so far has max solar input voltage less than my 56v panel.
@IntoTheMystery132 ай бұрын
Are you switching over to power stations from a diy setup?
@davestennes3052 ай бұрын
@IntoTheMystery13 keeping DIY, works well 90% since I'm in AZ / lots of sun, but winter some days have to conserve, so probably get dedicated alternator charger to fill the gap, but a one device solution is appealing.
