What does today's Britain stand for? Do illegal migrants deserve to be deported thousands of kilometres away to a country they have never been to? An eleventh-hour ruling from the European Court of Human Rights is for now halting the maiden flight in a scheme to send them to Rwanda. Despite outcry that extends all the way up to Prince Charles and the Archbishop of Canterbury, the government vows to fight it and is even making veiled hints at reviewing its relationship with the ECHR.

It's a bit rich of the French to be concerned about this since they are the root cause of this illegal migration in the first place by failing to patrol its borders adequately whether through incompetence or design despite receiving millions of pounds from Britain to prevent this from happening!

Two things: 1) My understanding is that refugees must go to the first safe country, not pick and choose which country. Those that do pick their country would be considered migrants. 2) I see executive choice in which laws to carry out and how. How is this different with treaties? The executive is given a lot of leeway in their execution of laws. If signatories have issues with the execution and adherence of the treaty, then they can bring grievance, just as people can sue the govt for failing to adhere to a law passed by parliament. If this is the point of the ECHR, then fine. If in that case, the ECHR can suspend their membership or the UK can withdraw (which I believe requires a parliamentary vote).

I think Laura made a very important comment. My observation of Boris Johnson is he just keeps making drastic decisions to keep his political position and not thinking of Britain and its people in the long haul. A good reputation is important for Britain because of its history whether people agree or not, his actions will also affect whether the British Royal Family are around after the Queen or not, Leaving the ECHR, Ripping up the Good Friday Protocol, diverting migrants etc is not intelligent. I can’t take him seriously after he stood in front of the United Nations recently quoting miss piggy while actual global crises are occurring. He doesn’t conduct himself nor does he speak publicly with the education and composure we expect from Modern day England.

Question Illegal migrates can be legally removed for breaking the law?
@arlenehiles2689
@arlenehiles2689 2 жыл бұрын
It all depends on the severity of the crime I think. I can understand people's concerns, considering terror attacks that have occurred in England. Like a car being driven into people walking across a bridge over the Themes River and the terror attacks on the trains. Such persons should be deported. Also rapists who rape and harm both men and women, foreign drug dealers etc. But otherwise if the migrant has broken a law by illegally entering the UK, he or she may have done so understandable reasons. Like migrants fleeing from terror in their own countries, or people who have been smuggled in to be used as sex slaves etc who did not know beforehand they would end up in such a condition and who may have had their passport removed to prevent them escaping. Slavery firs go on in the UK as well as sex slavery. Young women thinking they comming to the UK for a few months to do a moddling assignment etc only to find out to Kate it's anything but. Usually these person's are held against their will. I think with people fleeing from terror, should be allowed to stay fir at least five years, do courses etc that can prepare them to get work in and be independent in another country willing to take them. Like do nursing or care work courses etc Also bare in mind that illegal migrants fleeing to the UK, would not be aware of the laws in advance in the UK. I think the people trafficking smugglers who make a fortune out of vulnerable people sending them off in unsafe boats etc are the ones to go after. But it's s very difficult problem.

Kindly removed by Israel. So that argument is null and void. However, I do agree that the UK is also testing the boundaries of human rights too. For example the basic human right to defend oneself. Its made open season for criminals. There are many others such things arnt the will of the people nor have they been consulted and violating basic rights.

@@amansouravsrivastava2405 "Another strand of opposition to Malthus's ideas started in the middle of the 19th century with the writings of Friedrich Engels (Outlines of a Critique of Political Economy, 1844) and Karl Marx (Capital, 1867). Engels and Marx argued that what Malthus saw as the problem of the pressure of population on the means of production actually represented the pressure of the means of production on population. They thus viewed it in terms of their concept of the reserve army of labour. In other words, the seeming excess of population that Malthus attributed to the seemingly innate disposition of the poor to reproduce beyond their means actually emerged as a product of the very dynamic of capitalist economy. Anthropologist Eric Ross depicts Malthus's work as a rationalization of the social inequities produced by the Industrial Revolution, anti-immigration movements, the eugenics movement[clarification needed] and the various international development movements.[51] "
