I'm a massive August Burns Red fan so naturally I want this, but I don't actually play heavy music. Would you say that this is versatile enough to still justify if I'm just gonna use it for low-med gain?

Of course it depends on your rig and exactly what you're trying to achieve, but this pedal's circuit is rooted in the TS9, so I would say it's pretty safe to bet you'll be happy with this in front of your low/mid gain amp/sim.
