@@brokengamer9675 No, the front plate is mostly fine, they fixed the issue of shells loling right through the front plate a while ago, the main issue is that the turret ring is inaccurately heightened, and susceptible even to low caliber AP shells, such as those from autocannons.

The thing is there is no actual data on the improved armor other than statements made. Gaijin doesn't change a vehicle simply based on some statement without proof. And the turret ring won't change either way, the gun breach won't change as well, the only weak spot that gets improved is the lower plate. And the change for that isn't more than 100mm more armor. The m1a2 won't perform any better even with the improved armor.

You cry about having a shell with 600mm of pen? What? 3BM60 has like 100mm pen less, and yet it still gets the job done, even against other soviet MBTs. And do you have official sources to confirm that the armour on the abrams is incorrect? And even if let's say they buff the armour, the turret cheeks are strong anyway, and no smart player will shoot there, the turret ring and gun breach will still be weak, because the gun breach has little composite around it and the turret ring has no composite at all. Maybe the lower plate might get a buff assuming this whole armour thing is even true. But even then, it won't be enough to stop close range shots.

@@alexmaximus9134 well in the case for the 3BM60 round it is what it is the rounds can only be so big because of how the tank is designed it’s a 2 piece ammo so because the tank has a carousels auto loading system the rounds need to be able to fit in the tank. Small projectile length means = less material, shorter penetrator, less over all pen. Meanwhile the M829A3 is a massive penetrator. It’s also bigger in diameter. More length+more material+better materials=better pen. Also it would help primarily with the amount of spall. We all now how inconsistent and terrible the spalling is on the Abram’s rounds. It’s dog shit straight up.

@@Frost_x_NB Maybe it is longer, but how do you say that a 120mm APFSDS shell is "bigger in diameter" than the 125mm APFSDS? The main reason it pens better is because the material is much more rigid. It does not break off as easily. Which contributes to the lack of spall as well. A smaller projectile made with more rigid materials flies fast and keeps itself intact as it travels through enemy armour, that is good for keeping itself from falling apart as it penetrates, increasing its penetration, but it also affects the spall, by staying largely intact, it does not spread as many fragments. However, the 125mm shell has less pen due to it fragmenting easier, but if it does manage to penetrate, due to it already beginning to break apart, all of those fragments will fly inside the vehicle. To put it in another way, it's similar to a shotgun slug vs a rifle bullet. The rifle bullet will slice clean through, but won't do much damage. But a shotgun slug will impact the target with a lot of force, even though it is stopped by thicker armour.

But tell me then, since both projectiles are APFSDS, how does the 120mm have a larger DIAMETER than the 125mm? 120 and 125 are literally their diameters. So tell me, in what world is 125 smaller than 120. I literally just explained concretly the difference. The 120mm is longer, as you initially said, and has more rigid materials, which maintain their shape, which allows it to penetrate better by keeping itself intact for a longer time as it travels through armour. However, due to this, and it's smaller caliber creating a smaller entry point, not as many fragments enter the vehicle, again, due to the shell mostly staying intact. Meanwhile, the 125 is shorter and with more brittle materials, thus having less penetrating power, however due to that and having a larger caliber, thus piercing more of the armour by colliding with more of it, creates more spall. But conveniently, you did not even talk about all of this, instead, just chose to throw crap at my credibility without a solid argument.

Absolutely massive skill issue. I can pen things with 3BM60 with ~500mm pen, and you struggle to pen things with a faster tank with a faster reload with like 600mm of pen with good gun depression. If you just hold W and hope that the tank is invincible, then that's your problem.

@@alexmaximus9134I will argue that holding w and hoping you’re invincible is what a lot of Russian players do, because their equipment allows for it. But as well, M774 which has around ~370 mills of pen (I think) is usually enough for any tank. Every top tier vehicle has a weak spot that can be penned with at least ~200mm of pen. It’s just that the Abrams has a massive weak spot in the turret ring and mantlet, compared to the T72s and T80s relatively small drivers hatch spot. (And some things that the M1 faces are more than capable of piercing the turret cheeks).

The abrams might have a chance to retreat if the driver and engine survive, but if a russian tank is caught with its side on, it's dead. Russian MBTs also have the gun breach weakspot, which is right next to the driver's hatch, so if you miss one, it's a good chance you might hit another. But so many abrams players just click on me without aiming. 3BM60 cannot. The obj 292 might go through, but other than that, the russian APFSDS does not have that much pen power to go through that spot. With russian MBTs, you kill an abrams through gun breach or turret ring, sometimes lower plate on closer ranges, but it is a bit of a gamble and with a roof optic shot with HE. To kill a soviet/russian MBT, you shoot gun breach, driver's hatch, lower plate (idealy on the center) with APFSDS and in the gun breach with HE.

When they add multi-platform SPAA systems into the game, it'll be evened out. Even then, the fucking US planes are still literally the strongest in the entire game. The win rate problem is more affected by so many M1A1 AIM and Clickbait users buying themselves into the very top tier and leaving matches in 1-2 deaths. I'd expect to see a similiar thing happening to Russia win rates when the T-80U-E1 gets a discount and new players flock in to the very top tier. Like hell, I don't even play the Soviet tech tree nowadays, yet I still see top tier matches going both ways very often due to the amount of 1-2 death leavers who have absolutely zero idea how to play properly. What APFSDS? Because if you’re talking about M735 it’s because it uses a tungsten core that is shaped like an elongated teardrop, rather than a cylindrical one, which they previously thought it was. So the nerf in penetration was to account for this discrepancy.

The only reason why they went through was because said tech mod was asleep at the time.
