Way back in 04, I journeyed to Japan during a difficult moment in life. Spent 10 days falling for every tourist trap in Tokyo. I've longed to return every year for 20 years. Happy to say that finally I will be traveling once again to beautiful Japan with my now 21 year old son this May. Originally we were gonna stay in-and-around Tokyo but after doing a deep dive of your videos, We will be exploring Japan from North to South ( from Aomori to Hiroshima) with many Chris Abroad approved stops along the way for 30 days! I'm so excited to return and If I should run into you, fried chicken is on me! If I see Natsuki, we will run in terror!

That's a lot of driving with barely any stops though. You're not getting much experience there. But at least you're going for a month and not 2 weeks

NEVER BEEN TO NIKKO???? Yes, there are lots of tourists, but it didn't seem overcrowded the last time I was there, a couple of years ago. The Toshogu shrine is spectacular, and so is the scenery around Chuzenjiko. Make a weekend of it, you and Charla can both get an episode out of it!

A couple years ago sounds like quarantine time so it'd make sense there wouldn't be many tourists.

Hello Pete and Chris, Just wanted to thank Pete for introducing me and the world to Coolish! I was addicted to the stuff and considered bringing some home, but decided that it probably wasn't a great idea to let ot melt on the plane. But I'll be back for more next month. @Chris, have you ever considered running a marathon (or half)? I ran the Osaka marathon last month and they had what was called the 'Maido Aid' where they would hand out food such as karaage chicken, takoyaki, senbei and other random foods. I had so much fun eating along the course that I decided to sign up for the Tohoku food marathon (its actually a half) next month. Yes, I am flying back from Sydney to Japan, just to participate in a fun run because they are offering food and sake along the course lol. This fun run with food was started up in 2012 to encourage tourism in the Tohoku area. This year will be its 10th anniversary. Maybe you could cover it in a video if you ever decide to run it. Thanks for the podcasts and everything you do. Jo from Sydney

Hello Chris and Pete, I know both of you two are not huge on anime and manga, but I wanna know your thoughts on the death on Dragon Ball’s creator Akira Toriyama? Mainly because the news is everywhere around the world and I know that Natsuki sing the song Cha La head Cha La and Ryotaro put a DBZ reference of you and him in his videos.

True Classic Tees is what I believe Pete was talking about, I got a little sick of their ads all the time with Jimson or whatever, but (not affiliated in any way) I now have 2 black polo shirts, 2 heather navy, 1 grey, and 9 black crew t-shirts (4 unopened yet) and they're what I wear almost all the time, love that the sleeves and neck are tighter, the advertising lived up to it. However, there was an issue with the shirts in one order of a 6 pack of black where 3 were too small, and two were the tall cut, but they sent another 6 pack free and all good.

Nikko is great, but the big shrine is not worth the insane price it costs to enter. Also because until the shrine itself everythign is free. The moss covered shrines in the forest behind it and generally the whole area is amazing for hiking. Nikko is phenomenal, just go away from the one road and shrine where all the tourists are. We even cought a bus ride to the other side of the great lake and went hiking there along a stream, with an even prettier waterfall.

They beat Hollywood by actually putting out quality film. As are you and other quality KZbinrs.
@harleyjo487510 ай бұрын
You’re not actually suggesting the best KZbinrs are putting out better quality content than the best in Hollywood, right?? I’m not denying this is good content, but that’s like IV levels, smoking, and taking a suppository of copium.
@Rickt244510 ай бұрын
@@harleyjo4875 what I'm saying is KZbinrs have gained a significant amount of the viewers that used to watch Hollywood movies. They are legitimate competition for Hollywood now. I'm sure a lot of people will agree that they watch a lot more KZbin than movies these days.
@Rickt244510 ай бұрын
@@harleyjo4875 what I'm saying is that KZbin has been taking a lot of viewership away from Hollywood due to their decline in quality.

While I'm happy about anime getting more global recognition it honestly feels kind of insulting as well... The boy and the heron was a fine film, but it wasn't an amazing movie and it almost feels like it won simply because it was a Miyazaki movie... Anything that isn't Ghibli usually never even receives as much as a nomination yet alone a win. In the past 10 years we've had several amazing anime movies, Your Name, A Silent Voice, Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms, In This Corner of the World, I Want to Eat Your Pancreas, Promare, Liz and the Blue Bird, Josee The Tiger and The Fish, and although they haven't quite lived up to the success of Your Name both Weathering with you and Suzume were still really good and visually stunning movies. To see all of these fantastic movies come out and be pretty much completely ignored and then Miyazaki releases a movie which as far as Ghibli goes is kinda middle of the road, and suddenly he wins an oscar for it... It almost can't be anything but insulting...

It's honestly insulting seeing how many fantastic anime movies have come out in the past decade without even receiving any attention from the academy... Then Miyazaki comes back, releases a film that's honestly pretty middle of the road and suddenly the academy looks to the east again... Just in the Past 10 years we've had what? 3 Shinkai movies (Your Name clearly the best imo, but weathering with you and Suzume were still stunningly beautiful movies), We've had A Silent Voice, Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms, Josee, The Tiger and The Fish, In This Corner of The World, I Want to Eat Your Pancreas, Promare, Liz and The Blue Bird, and probably more that I can't remember rn... I could be wrong, but I don't think any of these movies I listed even got nominated? and to then see the boy and the heron win on basically pure name recognition is almost just insulting...
