Divorce bill won’t destroy families, says lawmaker | TeleRadyo Serbisyo

Albay 1st District Rep. Edcel Lagman denied Thursday that a divorce law would destroy families, saying a marriage is already wrecked even before a couple files for divorce.

I am one of those who are against it. As a believer of Christ I believe that we're not meant to conform to the pattern of this world but we're set apart. God hates divorce. Also I pray that you would realize that divorce only cures the symptoms of unhealthy marriage not the roots of it. Naiintindihan ko may mga taong nakatali sa maling relasyon at ang divorce ang nakikita nilang madaling paraan para makawala dito. Pero aminin natin na marami sa atin especially women na nagdidesisyon agad na pumasok sa isang relasyon nang hindi man lang muna pinag iisipan ng mabuti kung nasa tamang tao at relasyon ba sila. Marami satin takot mag isa at walang kasama sa buhay kaya marami na lang din ang nagse settle na lang sa maling tao kaysa mag isa. Naalala ko ang kasabihan ng mga matatanda, "ang kasal ay hindi parang bagong saing na kanin na kapag sinubo at napaso ay iluluwa na lang", kaya dapat pinag iisipan ng mabuti bago pumasok rito. Ano na nangyari sa kasabihang yan!? You guys are just so desperate for this bill to pass para may madaling eraser sa mga mali mali nyong desisyon sa buhay at para turuan ang susunod na henerasyon na ok lang magpadalos dalos sa pagpapakasal kasi madali na lang naman makipag hiwalay, imbes na turuan silang maging matalino sa pagpili ng taong pakakasalan. I'm afraid that our next generation will excel in academics but always fail in life decision making kasi alam nila na may madaling paraan para itama ang mga stupidong desisyon nila sa buhay so why bother to think about it wisely. Marriage is God-ordained and it is one of the major decisions you will ever make in your life because it is not just a commitment but a lifetime commitment!!

I believe that divorce should be allowed in the Philippines, especially for couples in toxic relationships. Keeping such couples together is like putting birds in a cage that are always fighting; ultimately, one or both will end up badly hurt. Allowing divorce provides a way out and a chance for individuals to find peace and happiness.
