I'm irish (Cork). A lot of Irish people from my grandfather's generation spoke like this.

Sounds extremely like County Louth accent, with the intonations of Welsh, some Scouse twangs, and a slight Scottish gravel to it. Extremely interesting! This is the ultimate British Isles accent!!!!!!

Sounds more Irish than anything else but I think she says that she would have had a ‘skelping’ (a Scots word for spanking) if she misbehaved like 1950s youth. The sound quality is poor but if so then there are clearly Scottish influences too.

I'm an American and it took me listening to it twice to understand what she was saying. MFW I realized she was just complaining about darn kids these days.

Sounds Scottish and Welsh.

The lilt is almost Newcastle UK, the pitch is high Scots-Welsh. I thought it would have sounded more Irish, given that Irish-style Gaelic survived all of the invasions of the Isle of Man. Fascinating.

As a Welshman, I don't personally hear the "Welshness" to the accent that others are hearing. To me it sounds not quite Scottish, not quite Irish but somewhere in between, which makes sense

As someone from north wales it sounds significantly north-walian to me, like a Bangor/Conwy accent

@@RotmgCRTY Diddorol. Well I would always say Scouse accents have been influenced by Welsh & not the other way around. Particularly the way they pronounce hard k's like 'ch' But yes would make sense for Man to have all these influences given it's literally slap bang in the middle of all of them!

@@CaelanDafydd agreed, the first time I visited Caerdydd there were a couple people mistaking me for a scouser haha. Good point about the "ch" sounds! Never thought about that one before :) makes a lot of sense

Can one still hear the old Manx accent spoken or has it died out?
@Jakecraftone07

It has well and truly dead. British and Irish immigrants changed the accent and killed it off. I live on the island and i have never heard a Manx accent
