There was a small club in Hollywood a few years back that probably held 100 at the very most. It was his gigantic line that was literally about a three or four block. Nothing on the signs or anything about who was performing period story got passed down to me cuz I wasn't around but I was a reputable source. People had heard it was the Chili Peppers they were coming back to one of the first clubs they ever played. At the end of the day it really was the chili peppers and the concert was free to anybody that could get in. This was before I was around but somewhere around mid-90s. Thought the story was dope how they were giving back to the community. Everybody couldn't get in like I said so they set up speakers outside and played with a permit I guess they had already got just in case. Too cool.

The funny thig is, there are a lot of people who do not like Anthony's voice. They say he can't sing in tune. I wouldn't know, I'm not a singer or musician. Personally I've always liked his voice, it's unique and sometimes, IMHO, that's what makes a singer better. I've been listening to them since the 90's - starting with their "Mothers Milk" album - which if I remember correctly was their fourth album. (Thanks Phil, for introducing me.) 👍😁

Yeah, Anthony is one of those people I'd refer to as a "vocalist" and a "front man" more than I would call him a "singer." He's improved over the years (or they've gotten fancier with the studio trickery in the years since "Under the Bridge" taught them that slow tunes sell records to a larger audience) but, even so, I'd still categorize what he's doing as "talk-singing" more than actual singing. That's not to take away from what RHCP do. His sound is part of their sound and it all works together. And, as you said, his voice is unique and that's part of the appeal. I started listening to them around the same time you did. I mean, I actually first heard them about the time of The Uplift Mofo Party Plan but didn't really get fully onboard until Mother's Milk. Later, I absolutely wore Bloodsugarsexmagick out playing it over and over and over. Personally, I prefer Anthony's rappier cadences than his vocals on their slower tunes but it's all good. I mean, there's a reason they've stuck around this long, yeah?

Like many of the band's later day songs, this is about Drug addiction, as Kiedis has a history with relapsing into Heroin addiction. His best friend (and fellow Red Hot Chili Pepper, guitarist) Hillel Slovak died of Heroin and Kiedis always said that Hillel should kick his ass if he ever relapses. That is what "otherside" is about. "Hillel, I need you kick my ass again because I fucked up once again." Yeah, you guys should react to some Hillel-era songs. - "Fight like a brave" - "Out in LA" - "Mommy, where's daddy?" - "Me and my friends"

They will always remind me of him. ❤️ He was killed 30 years ago in a car wreck at the age of 16. He was walking to school when some friends from school picked him up. And about a mile up the mountain road the driver dropped something, reached to pick it up and drove in the lane of a utility vehicle. It ran over the top of the car and killed all 4 kids instantly. Fun thing to look for on rewatch: This video begins and ends in the same place. At the beginning, the guy has just had his crash landing, then the ambulance comes and takes him to the hospital, then as he goes under the anesthesia, he flashes back to the events that led to his fall. I usually regard a music video has something separate from a song, but in this case, the video and the song are inextricably interwoven in my mind, so that I can't think about one without the other. It's one of my favorite videos ever! I'm not a visual art expert, but I recognize the influence of several artists in the video's aesthetic, such as M.C. Escher, Rene Magritte, and Edward Gorey. I'd like to put in my votes for reactions to "Under the Bridge" and "Dani California," if you haven't done them yet.

Haven’t heard this in a while.. sooooo good! Can’t go wrong with RHCP… such a distinctive sound. So many to recommend… ‘By the Way’, ‘The Zephyr Song’, ‘Give it Away’, ‘Under the Bridge’, ‘Scar Tissue’. Their album ‘Blood Sugar Sex Majik’ was my housework album back in the day!

I love this song, it was cool seeing Amber's eyes go wide when it jumped to the next level in the solo! Anthony Keidis is the singer and he has always been the lead singer of RHCP so yeah, it is the same guy on Suck My Kiss and Californication, and Scar Tissue (which I thought you did, but if you didn't you should). You should also do: Snow (Hey Oh), Dani California, & : The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie

I saw them many years ago in Chicago right at the start of their fame. John Cusak was in the crowd.

I got a morning show Ive watched daily here in Sacramento Ca. for around 20 years. Called Goodday Sacramento. Same core cast for YEARS. They're my T.V comfort show. You 2 are my KZbin comfort reactors. I feel like we're the same type people. Thank you.

John Fruiscante (guitarist during the more famous years) is possibly the best background vocalist ever. Tune an ear for it in any RHCP song

This is one of my fave RHCP songs, along with Breaking the Girl, Suck My Kiss (you already know 🤘) Can't Stop, their cover of Love Rollercoaster, and of course Give it Away and Under the Bridge. Also, google Chad Smith (drummer) being Will Ferrell's twin! 🤣🤣🤣

This is a very good and very unique band! Yes very creative group, lots of great songs. Yes, same singer Anthony Kiedis. They are very different and that’s the reason I love them!

Crows symbolize transformation and change. ... The crow represents change or transformation. But much more than that, it refers more to a spiritual or emotional change. These intelligent birds give us valuable insight into situations around us and help us adapt as needed
