Gorillaz are an English virtual band created in 1998 by musician Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett. The band primarily consists of four animated members: 2-D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle, and Russel Hobbs. Their fictional universe is presented in music videos, interviews and short cartoons. In reality, Albarn is the only permanent musical contributor, and Gorillaz' music often features collaborations with a wide range of featured artists like Snoop Dog, Elton John, and Beck. You need to check out their songs "Dirty Harry", "Melancholy Hill", "Saturn Bars", "Dare", "Stobelight", "Aeris", "Desole",...pretty much every Gorillaz song out there.

Arguably the most experimental band of the last 20 years! And they are a full-fledged Band as they do play live and aren’t ‘studio-only’.. last time I saw them they literally had 1/2 of the Clash (yes, THE the Clash) on Stage, DeLaSoul, Bobby Womack and Little Dragon, along with Albarn, and it all flows perfectly! Not to mention the amazing artwork of Jamie Hewlett on the animation and illustration side… it’s an insane experiment that somehow worked out and is still goin super strong 20 years later.

Watching this back, i just realized they probably named this song "Clint Eastwood'" because of the opening notes of the song/those cool vocalizations. I can't say for certain, but this song always hit me as what it's like when doing drugs. The singer "ain't happy," but they have "sunshine in a bag." The cool thing about the Gorillaz is that since they are not a "real" band, they're not stuck with one style. Everybody in the band has a "day job" with another band so they can cut loose and do weird and experimental stuff in Gorillaz. Also they run the gambit with their collaborators. You've got new or niche acts like SchoolBoy Q and Slowthai, deep cuts from Brit rock/pop like Leee John and Peter Hook to big names like Del the Phunky Homosapien/Deltron, Beck, Robert Smith, De La Soul (Feel Good Inc), Elton John, and Dennis Hopper. Because most of the contributors are not available for touring, their positions are usually filled by whoever they can get. For instance, Del the Phunky Homosapien did the rap section of Clint Eastwood, but in concert the part has been played bya variety of semi famous to famous rappers, most providing their own lyrics. Arguably the most famous would be Snoop Dogg at Glastonbury.

Hi guys, one commenter below said this was an experimental band, I think that is a good name for it. Its kind of all over the place trying many different vibes. I am not crazy about it. Again like the other one, by Toxicity, I don't like the way I feel afterwards, and for me that is a hallmark that I look for in music. It has to inspire, uplift or touch some emotional feeling for me to really love it and listen to again. This music was interesting and I can see why others like it, I don't think I would like to listen to the band again personally. But I am glad I had the chance to view it and see what it was all about. I guess I am selfishly hoping that you will go back to reacting to some of the older music again that you were exploring. I have been having a lot of fun, memories and good feelings from watching you react to songs I have not heard in years.
