Wow, guys. You have no idea how deep that song is for me. When it came out I was going through chemotherapy for a Hodgkin's lymphoma. Back then we only had cd players and that whole album ( Californication ) was my go to album during my treatments. Scar Tissue reminded me that if I survived this ordeal, I'd be proud to have them after my surgery. That was 22 years ago and tonight you guys took me on a very special trip down memory lane. Thank you so much 🤗

"Give It Away" is, I think, one of their best songs, and definitely one of the best videos ever. I think Jay would love the flow of it. For a great earlier song where Flea really shines and just goes off on the bass, "Higher Ground", which is a Stevie Wonder cover, is pretty awesome.

I went to the UK from South Africa in 1998 for a few years and ended up working as a bartender in the flair bar scene, I shared a house with 2 guys I grew up with and the album that this song came from was the "House Album" when it was released...when we got home (usually after 4am and usually very inebriated..) it went on and we`d have sing alongs well into the new day...our neighbors HATED us...🤣🤣🤣🤣

This song is also from the CALIFORNICATION album. These guys had kind of been written off / forgotten when this album came out, their style of music had kind of run it's course (so we thought) and then this dropped. This was the first single that came out (I think) and i can't think of anyone that didn't LOVE it. "Don't call it a comeback"... but that's kind of what it was. If I'm not mistaken it was also the return of John Frusciante on lead guitar which clearly had a huge impact.

This is the type of song in which those guitar notes cause me to just close my eyes, feel the wind hit my face, and get lost in the sunshine! I agree. The chorus is nice but it's so easy to feel the smoothness of those guitar notes. It's really beautiful. I hope "Give It Away" is a song that's comin' by RHCP. I have a hunch that may end up being Jay's favorite song. I could be wrong but I don't know. ;) You guys should check out the band Everclear and find the song "I Will Buy You a New Life." Each of these bands have sooo much good music that it’s hard to pinpoint a favorite. COLLECTIVE SOUL: Gel, Heavy, Where the River Flows, Precious Declaration, Better Now, Counting the Days… CREED: My Own Prison, What If, What’s This Life For, Weathered, Don’t Stop Dancing, Rain, Are you Ready… Please consider revisiting these superb bands!

If you haven't done Give It Away, please do. You'll see their early rock/rap hybrid that was kind of their own subgenre at the time. When others followed their lead in the 90's, the Peppers went a different direction, bringing songwriting and instrumentation to new levels, but more mellow and evocative. John Frusciante is a guitar god and genius and so criminally underrated.

Every single member of that band are masters of their instrument. Flea is an amazing bassist if you haven’t checked him out. Chad kills the drums and John can make you feel anything he wants on guitar. I suggest Dani California and Under the Bridge.

Walkabout is a great RHCP song that a LOT of people don't even know about and you'll definitely like it!!!

John's soulful touch is amazing, one of the best outtros ever too on this song. if you want more unreal guitar soulfulness, try their performance of 'Don't Forget Me' live at Slane Castle.

I used to have this as my ringtone. Then everyone was complaining about me not answering my phone. I would have phone under my pillow volume max and vibration on. But I wouldn't wake up. Finally figured it out. This and soul to squeeze all time favorite songs and I love the song so much instead of waking me it just put me even deeper into sleep. That's why these guys are the best

chad smith is such a great feel drummer...if you ever get the chance, drumeo does a youtube channel with drummers playing songs they have never heard on one take without the drum part and its up to the percussionist to fill the drum part....chad smith does a dua lipa song...but he does an awesome job on 30 seconds to mars song 'the kill'. btw...still waiting for the prince superbowl performance on your channel....maybe it can be your superbowl reaction?? just a suggestion....peace

Red hot Chili Peppers are fantastic!!! Every song people have requested I agree with you should watch. Really need to see the recent Drumeo video with Chad Smith (rhcp drummer) he does a drum improv to a song he has never heard before. This will 100% blow your mind!!

One of the best rock bands ever. Utter dedication to the music. Flea and Frusciante are SO SO amazing. I recommend the song Breaking the Girl. But they have many great songs.
