Damn, i already own Scott Snyders run of Batman in hardcovers but i might have to pick this one up just for that slip cover 🔥🔥

I'm so happy that they used the uncensored version of the story from the single issues. The story in the TPB/HC is censored and lots of lines were changed.

I was on the fence about picking this one up but now seeing the slipcover it’s the dealbreaker. I might double dip too so I can open it and keep one sealed.
@MrDudoma2 ай бұрын
I just started to reread it, and you're making a review. Coincidence? :) Btw my hc has almost the same dust jacket. Pretty sick, but as I see, they kept the original lines of the Joker in the absolute edition. ("I like it, when you talk dirty" for example)

I got the version that came with the mask. I didn’t care for the story but that mask is bad ass

I wish dc would just release the whole event in one book already instead of half in that joker HC and half in batman

I got an order in for this. I haven't really been collecting Batman books besides Absolute Dark Knight, Absolute Killing Joke, and Absolute Three Jokers. Guess I only want Batman in Absolutes ( _uhh, lies. I guess I did start reading the new Absolute Batman digitally here recently. Boy! THAT'S not confusing at all! lol_ ). For some reason, the idea that Snyder's run might get collected in Absolutes kinda attracts me to these. I also ordered a recent printing of Absolute Court of Owls, and looking forward to getting Zero Year next year, too. Really though, I've never read these stories, and from what I understand they're received pretty well, so I'm excited I've got something good to read... whenever they get here, that is.
@danielmitchel31310Ай бұрын
I was just doing research on this and the Court Of Owls Absolute. It goes from issue 11 to 13 to Death Of The Family. I thought 1 of them would include issues 12 & 0. I haven't bought the Snyder Omnis (yet). I haven't gotten any Absolutes before. I do not get much DC.
@chinohormannАй бұрын
@@danielmitchel31310 Yeah, the way it's felt to me is that the Absolutes are more "focused" on that particular "story" or miniseries, and if you want _mostly_ everything, you'd want the omnis. At least the Batman by Snyder/Capullo omnibus volumes 1&2 seem to have almost everything from the New52 era of Batman. Minus only a couple of tie-ins, it seems (Joker's Daughter and Justice League: The Darkseid War). Only DC omni I have is the Death of Superman (oh! and Before Watchmen), but I've had my eye on Hellblazer by Ennis. I have like 10 or so Absolute Edition books.

Yeah, its not for me either. Just creepy weird looks, no substance...
@CarlMАй бұрын
It's definitely one of the best joker stories ever written. If you look past the surface level stuff, it has one of the best deep dives into the character of the joker, and his relationship with batman and the bat family. However it is best read as a part of the new 52 batman storyline, not just as a standalone story. The story continues in endgame, and a tiny bit after that too
@michischwarzАй бұрын
Everyone is different. For me it's a shitty story covered in gore. For others, like the commentator above, one of the best. That's how taste works😂
@wintherr3527Ай бұрын
@@michischwarz I think it just takes things too far. It's a horror story, actually. Snyder made the Joker so bizarre and scary it actually becomes sickening to read after a while. I remember actually not feeling well after reading the original issues of this run. I actualy said to myself: OK, THIS IS TOO MUCH!! I think Snyder imagined that, after SO many Joker stories, it was time to actually bring something new, challenging, to the character. So he went to the extreme. It's an incredibly sad storyline (ACTUALLY depressing) and it also makes the Joker look like what he was not and was never meant to be: a supernatural entity. What he does in this run is unbelievable, start to finish. I mean, come on, at the end of the day, the Joker is still just a human being, a simple bullet can kill him!! Yet here he is a supernatural entity, invincible, unstoppable. Overall, this is an interesting reading, but I would never spend serious money buying it, and I thoroughly understand people who would entirely disregard this saga as utter trash.
