Outstanding. My mom cleaned houses for a living. She gave me the drop of dish soap in water and dry with paper towels method a while back. No more expensive toxic window cleaner for me. The squeegee method is perfect for hard to reach non opening windows.

Bravo! I have been washing windows professionally since 1978. What do we use? DISH SOAP. Non toxic (you can lick a plate. you can lick my windows). Non destructive when drops get on floors and carpets. Not expensive. The go-to brand years ago in America was Joy. They disappeared, and now it's Dawn or Palmolive. All the best.

Do you just use tap water? I started using DI water from my Unger DI filter. I make just a few gallon for each day and the water works so well, pulls all of the cloudy milk stains right off the glass in no time
@TradMan5 жыл бұрын
Yeah just tap water in the bucket, my ppm here in Scotland is low anyways ;)
@craig69035 жыл бұрын
There a huge difference between 0 ppm and 20 ppm. I clean a lot of glass that hasn’t been clean in years. With the 0 ppm it just pulls the hard water stains out so quick, the water after being squeegee runs down the glass like milk on and sometimes black. I haven’t seen anyone make a video or even talk about using DI water for traditional cleaning, but personally it save me a lot of time
@yelsing14 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video so helpful.I have applied this method and works for glasses that are not too dirty. When the glass is high (more than 5 meters) and is really dusty, the dust dries the solution too fast then I am not able to squeegee so I have to leave the applicator really wet, with the consequence that the solution is not consistent as you show in the video. how do you do windows when are high and too dusty?
@TradMan4 жыл бұрын
Yeah totally get what you mean. In that case what you've done is exactly what I would do, have the applicator a bit more saturated for the really dusty windows. 👍🏻

Do u not use squeeze deluxe no more.cheers
@TradMan5 жыл бұрын
@Kevin Olsen Hiya, I used to use it when it first came out but stopped using it for 2 reasons 1. You have to use a lot of it to get a good consistency, (I think they changed the ingredients as it didn't use to be like this) compared to dish soap which you don't need much. 2. The squeeze deluxe is expensive! So because it's of overly expensive I don't tend to get it. When I reviewed it, when it first came out, the price wasn't known at that point. When I found out how much they were going to charge people for it I thought no way am I paying like £6 for a bottle when I can get fairy liquid for a £1 lol. It wouldn't be so bad at maybe around £3 a bottle but £6 for a small bottle is expensive, no company with multiple employees would pay that, although they have a bigger version now, the 5L container. I think the squeeze deluxe has changed from when I first used it. So yeah I use regular fairy liquid, or Aldi dish soap. It's cheap and works well 👍🏻

Thank you for the vid, I have been applying the soap as you recommend but I have not been taking off the excess water? Would this explain some of my problems where I am getting lines when fanning? Also how often do you re-dunk the applicator? Every time I re-dunk I don’t take off the excess water. I will now!
@TradMan5 жыл бұрын
Ok so if the rubber is straight with no ripples along the channel and the rubber is cut to the right length then you shouldn't have any problems. What rubber are you using? If it's a long channel you'll have to press a little harder on the glass than a smaller sized channel. If your getting lines it's usually because the rubber is not flush at the end with the blue clip or the rubber has damage on the ends, usually at the corner. As for when you re-dunk, personally I do it when i feel the soap is getting way to thick on the glass and is difficult to apply to the glass, that's when you know you need more water and then add a little soap again after the re-dunk. So as a rule of thumb, if the solution is flooding down the glass it's TOO RUNNY, if it's VERY THICK and hard to apply it to the glass then you've got TOO MUCH SOAP. You'll get a feel for it. As you can see in the video, the solution was not running down the glass but also was not difficult for me to apply it to the glass. But after about 5-6 larger windows it will thicken up as you use up the water in the applicator and it becomes mainly just thick soap, that's when you'd want to add some water ;) Hope this makes sense

Thank you for your reply. I am currently using the facelift rubber. Was using Ettore. And my main channel is 14inch. I was having fairly big problems with the lines but My rubber was not quite level with clips so I have fixed that and and that has reduced the lines. It is now just faint lines, maybe I’m to picky! I’m trying to get a sec to do a vid to show how I’m doing it on messenger. Many thanks for all the support, and taking the time, it is much appreciated. your vids are great

hi trad whats your opinion of razor red rubber]
@TradMan5 жыл бұрын
Hi, i used it for a while a few years ago. It's plus point is it's very durable. The negative is the glide is not as good as soft rubber, so depends on what tool your using and how you use it. For something like the liquidator squeegee I'd recommend a softer rubber like pulex soft or moerman soft. The glide on those rubbers are better but not as durable as razor

How do you cope with the excess water 💧, gathering at the bottom of the applicator while it sits in a vertical position 🤔 in the holster? Does this not create problems with overwetting top, or side edge's? You have advised leaving a gap on top edge before, but this i feel means not soaking up the window properly. A conundrum Trad man! The only way I can find a solution ( no pun intended), lol, is to have the applicator , somehow resting in a horizontal position 😅, but as yet, I have not found a Way to do this. Your thoughts?
@TradMan3 жыл бұрын
I just give each side of the applicator a swish round in the boab really or you can tip your boab out onto the applicator
@Robert-ij9ih5 жыл бұрын
So what’s the best solution? The one you put on your applicator?
@TradMan5 жыл бұрын
After testing many solutions, nothing has beaten premium dish soap for glide, so either fairy platinum or Aldi magnum, both being premium means you don't need a lot of it and it goes a long way. I have 5 litres of fairy platinum, I've used about a quarter of it and that's taken about 3 weeks to use so you can see for very good glide and also good for your wallet as it's not expensive, premium dish soaps just haven't been surpassed

The more soap you use the faster the window gets dirty I heard ?
@TradMan Жыл бұрын
Try it for yourself and see. I’ve used this trad method for years and have seen very little difference in the longevity of the clean. In my experience having a watery soapy solution or a more soap solution will only make a difference to the performance of your squeegee, it won't make any noticeable difference to how long the windows stay clean. Most of our clients are on a monthly rota so I can honestly say after using various methods that it's more to do with the weather and the jobs location that will determine how long your cleaning of the windows will last.

@TradMan Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your thoughts
@SeptimusMeek Жыл бұрын
In my opinion the problem with the moerman excelerator is it's fundementally flawed. It seemed to work with a change of technique and lots of soap but when you looked from the inside with direct sunlight the results were awfu.. if you lay it on a flat surface rubber side down and run a thin needle under the rubber (starting in the middle) you'll find no resistance until it reaches the end clips then it stops. This implies that the middle of the squeegee rubber is being lifted off the glass by the dog eared ends.
@TradMan Жыл бұрын
Myself and many others get on fine with it and get perfect results. It's down to the user. If it doesn't work for you then you have two choices, 1. Improve your technique. 2. Get a different squeegee. 😊👍🏻
@SeptimusMeek Жыл бұрын
Yes, I know a few chaps who swear by it. It's not for me though, too much soap required to get it to work for my liking. I'll stick with my s plus, gg4 and some minor detailing!
