For anyone watching, you don't have to use a full on bearing for this. It doesn't spin, it's glued in. Bearings cost more than a simple steel collar. A steel collar is like 1/4 the cost.

@@TonyNguyenFR Right, but a collar or even just a simple spacer or bushing at the hardware store is like $2 or less if you don't have any of that shit lying around, or you don't feel like ruining whatever you take it out of. I understand what you are saying.

The *outside* ring of the bearing is glued in and does not spin. The inner ring of the bearing, that is touching the drill, is not glued. It will spin. Allowing the inside ring to spin means you are nicer with the drill bit.

@ashleypowell8066
@ashleypowell8066 3 ай бұрын
I think any imperfection in centering the bearing between the two dowels will be canceled out if you make sure the same dowel is against both mating faces. It'd be a good idea to mark the dowels to facilitate this. The drilled holes might not be perfectly centered between the edges, but it doesn't matter as along as they are both the same distance from their mating edges.
@Eun2k
@Eun2k 3 ай бұрын
@@ashleypowell8066 I guess what I mean is, you can have the line in "the window" so to speak, but it might not be dead center in the bearing. I guess for what it's for it would be close enough and this jig is pretty versatile when it comes to different widths of boards. Nice idea.
