Its not directly stated, but the implication is that one or more of Circe's Nymphs were assaulted by the last group of men she welcome courteously, so she has abandoned the typical Divine law, by which Gods or Kings are expected to treat visitors kindly, and started to curse any men that washed up on her island with extreme prejudice.

I take it as his heart being only for Penelope, so maybe the thought of... involvement with other women isn't really something that would occur to him? At least for this version of Odysseus, he's loyal af I mean, obviously I'm no quick-witted Odysseus but if I were in his shoes and I also had a Penelope, I'd be dumb/oblivious af to other people's advances too and my brain would buffer for a moment 😂
@WittySomething2 ай бұрын
It's been confirmed iirc that Done For is supposed to be like a waltz I believe it was, thus the timing of the song, so when he says he doesn't follow, it also ties in to that. He isn't following their 'dance' anymore when she switches it up.
@camilolara20462 ай бұрын
12:17 LMAO yeah That's probably what Circe thought 😂.

As I recall, Circe and Hermes were lovers. Or more appropriately, bed partners with zero love between them. He loved chaos, she loved order. Hermes left because she was too stuffy. She took her duty of protecting the nymphs very seriously, because as she hints at in the song, the last time they welcomed men to their island... "bad things" happened to the girls. (Trying to keep it KZbin friendly.) Circe's transformation magic suddenly manifested in the midst of the "bad things" and she turned the men into pigs. Then she and the nymphs had ham for dinner. After that, she assumed all men were pigs and refused to fall in love.
@jessnalulila555218 күн бұрын
No they weren't. Circe and Hermes NEVER interacted in Greek Mythology This relationship was invented by the Madelline Miller's book Circe Edit: reading it again, I'm sure the last 3 lines are plots points of a retelling 🤔

Fun fact, at the and you can notice the guitar isn't there anymore because the effect of the Moly's power is ended when Odysseus says "you've lost". He thought he win against Circe. On the other hand she knew the effect of the Moly flower so she was so confident with her speech with Odysseus.

@orfeassiozos15752 ай бұрын
I LOVE that you picked up on the Habanera motif from Carmen because the main melody for this song indeed was inspired by the famous French opera!! It means to draw on the deviousness, resourcefulness and charisma that Carmen is known for, as those characteristics come into strong play in this battle between Circe and Odysseus and are just as important as strength has been in previous battles! Edit: Also!! Since you mentioned the triplets (which I hadn't noticed on this song until now!!), they are used along with the danger motif to represent danger! That's why Ruthlessness is filled to the brim with them. Notably, Athena's piano theme, which is in 4/4 in Warrior of the Mind, changes to triplets in Remember Them because she's fighting with Odysseus and that poses a danger to their relationship and the way things are handled moving forward.
@JenniferGlatzhofer2 ай бұрын
Ah love that!😁
@didle62 ай бұрын
2:44 you're actually spot on! Jorge purposely uses the bass line from Habanera (Carmen) as a sort of musical allusion to show Circe is wiling to use 'other ways of persuasion'. He explains it in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bIXRiaJubLaMmM0
@JenniferGlatzhofer2 ай бұрын
Oh cool!
@mrmatrixmusicman87872 ай бұрын
It’s not a huge deal bc we speak english and we anglicize pronunciations, but if you want to know, Jorge’s last name is pronounced with a silent h, employing a glottal stop at the beginning, and the r’s are rolled, if you can.
