Look, I get saff being pissed at Eddie for being a monster of a mother, but I never liked that she never had any professional respect for her mom. Was what she does Shallow and hypocritical? Yes, but it's WORK. Work that payed for her upkeep and if Eddie wasn't any good at it she'd be selling her on the street corner. She should at least had some civility to that.

I think the point was that Edina just blags her way through life. She never really puts the effort in, she just somehow manages to pull things together at the last minute usually with dramatic panic. Jennifer Saunders would be the first to agree with that. Saff is probably frustrated because she sees how much better Edina could be if she actually did some work. She's probably ran out of positive encouragement after years of it not working so all that's left now is annoyance.
