I have watched your whole series. Good stuff. I did upgrades to some of my Adu 6500 reels. Ceramic bearings will make them cast all the line off.

Great hack, I do that on every 6500. It makes it much smoother.

Great video Skip. Enjoying these. I would rather unhook a piranha barehanded than fight with those darn C Clips!

Yes those clips can be frustrating, so glad you are enjoying them, thanks for watching Tom!

I seen a guy use a shoelace. He slid it up under the cogwheel so it was supported underneath and around the edges through the center on both sides and pulled it off, to put it back on just push it on until it clicks back down.

Such an under rated series of videos! I'm not an AB guy but this got me thinking about upgrades to the style of reel. Any suggestions on researching this more? Any good forums?

Thanks so much, not sure what reels you’re using but there’s a lot of forums videos on other brands of reels, there all built very similar, just higher and lower quality of parts, glad your enjoying the videos, let me know what your using and I’ll do my best to help, thanks again!

@@ClearviewOutdoors just picked up some use slime cats, guy said he cleaned them recently using only rem oil. They work great but I feel the cast is lacking, badly. I've got a new pisicfun reel too with half Oz weight can outcast the SC's with a 4 & 1oz, which shouldn't be the case. I'm not at all new to fishing but have had a good 15 year break due to work & travel, so I never knew who became the "best" or that you could upgrade. I am curious on you opinion of reel butter vs what you use, Lucas seems like a no brainer but I didn't know they made more than motor oil
@ClearviewOutdoors Жыл бұрын
@@dodgersfnshepard8673 Motor oil just might work 😂 not sure about the Rem Oil may be to thick , most the good reel oil is pretty thin, not familiar with the reel butter.

Reel butter should be very similar

@@ClearviewOutdoors rem is a dry lube that's very thin but it's made for heat and firearms. Reel butter I'm told was the best but it seems a bit thick. It's what I've been using, works pretty good but can't be the best. Slip2000 is amazing stuff but doesn't have a grease. Since I have 2 slimcats I figured try 2 different types at test over a year. I take great care of my stuff but only because I run my gear hard. I'm binge watching your series now & hopefully find a good forum after. Keep up the good work & best of luck on the water

I just did that cog wheel hack on a 5000 and a 4600CL3. Also sprayed on a thin film of moly/graphite dry lube along with a drop of Hot Sauce - I dare say it has them spinning close to as freely as if they had bearings! We'll find out next week, got bearings on the way. One question... can the metal gear on the worm shaft be removed without damaging things? If so, then I'm gonna pop it off, trim back the bushing, and install another bearing on the worm shaft.

Thanks for sharing your findings sounds great and I’m not sure but on that but would be careful, just did one that gear was broken, just spinning on the shaft, there a video ( can we fix it) I believe is thumbnail!
