"Credit due here to Julian Colbeck, additional keyboards; Milton McDonald, second guitar; and bassist Jeff Berlin, standing in for a temporarily indisposed Tony Levin. All three were criminally under-lit and generally ignored by the video’s director, and all were vital components in thickening the sound, especially on some of the newer material. Thanks guys!" ...This shows how much class Mr. Bill Bruford has.

I really wanted to see Tony Levin walk out of the shadows with his moustache and mirror shades playing the stick.😂 Maybe Jeff should have got a false moustache, shaved his head and put on mirror shades for this gig. Would have been fantastic. Shame that the video doesn't feature the other guys, especially the bass in the intro, which is a key part of the song.

I have always loved Squire's basslines. I found his articulation to be idiosyncratic but consistent. Berlin isn't a perfect fit playing fingerstyle but he is also not a douche. Yes will always be revered and Squire will ever be the inspiration for Spinal Tap. If you ever met him you would understand. Berlin is a legend worthy of the highest praise. Released on VHS some time after the live pay-per-view event broadcast, either late 1989 or 1990. I taped the ppv b'cast liv in 1989, then bought the audio cds (initially as a UK import only, with one less track than the later US release which added Starship Trooper, which was also found on a 4 track promo cd in advance of the US 2 cd release), and I bought the VHS when it was released. I'm not sure what year it became available on dvd, it was in the 2000s, with a limited number of copies, and expensive, iirc...I don't have one.

@@HoofHearted6 ...Timeless YES, that's what makes certain songs/groups stand out they create music for the decades not a one hit wonder or here today gone tomorrow but everlasting. I wouldn't doubt music like this will be listened to 100-200 years from now and beyond. Yes has always been one of my favorite bands, and before this music was called "progressive rock" (to my knowledge anyway) I always called it "classical rock" not to be confused with classic rock.

I was there, freshly graduated from high school. Shoreline used to take volunteers to help direct traffic to the venue, and to prevent people from parking in the parking lots of the businesses nearby. The deal was that you could do that for an hour or two before the show, and once the show started you could get in for free. That's how I saw a few good shows there, but this one caught me by surprise. I had no idea that I would be moved so much, it was great! edit: I left out the part where a van pulled into the lot where I was working and as I walked up to tell them to park elsewhere, the window rolled down and the driver offered me a mushroom to let them park there. Fair deal, I thought! Parking there after hours wouldn't hurt anyone and how much could one little mushroom affect me? Let's just say that I was surprised to see video from the concert on YT and the set design hadn't been designed by Roger Dean as I had made it out to be from my vantage point on the lawn...

angelic voice as always and Berlin's fretless adds a different feel to it. Every song a masterpiece, thanks for being a big part of this band Mr. Bruford and all of Yes for the millions of lives you've touched.🙏

Who ever thought that Steve Howe and Steve Hackett would ever do a album together and whoever thought that Bill Bruford would ever be drumming with Phil Colins! What great careers that all of the band members of YES had and they were all successful and very good musicians too!

Jeff Berlin was the only possible sub for Chris. Glad he went along for the ride. Wow! One of the most moving songs, for me, in all rock history.

I wouldn't say that. Tony Levin was fantastic! Lee Pomeroy was great too and Geddy Lee played gorgeously for the Hall of Fame induction.

@@DavidLazarus of course I didn’t make that clear as I meant only that Jeff’s combined musicality, sight-reading ability and history with Bill made him the only choice to replace Tony on such short notice.

Not quite. Jeff Berlin did a terrible job here. His timing is off in a number of places. But worse, he is ego playing, and not playing what the music asks for. It's the worst performance I've ever seen him do.

Suprisingly you don't seem to regret that, from 0'49 on, there's no one of those unique sounding fills used on Fragile Alan White would never use, as if the band here didn't mean to render the unsettling mood one can find in the original piece.

I saw the Close to the Edge tour back in the day. I'd no idea Bruford left as soon as the album was complete. I was dismayed. Yeah, White is good but Bruford is one of a kind (Hey, that would be a good name for an album)

This is awful. jeff can't do Squire, Ricks keyboards have a cheap crappy 80s digital "variety show" sound to them and Bill sounds like an 80s drum machine. Only Steve and Jon are doing this justice. If only Rick and Bill had used the real instruments it would have been so much better and we would have footage of this played by Bill but we have this horrible electronic sound
