Is it mandatory that you replace the Serpentine Belt when you replace the AC Compressor? How can I tell if I need to replace the belt?

Not necessarily if its newer or in good condition. If something was leaking on it, itd be a different story. Ive always been taught belts should be recommended after 60,000 miles or when theres more than 4 cracks per square inch (I personally dont like seeing any cracks) or if the belt is really glazed or ripped up.

When recharging, I was only able to get one 8 ounce can in. The 2nd can won’t go in. Is there a way for the compressor to engage, since it doesn’t have a magnetic clutch? I’ve never worked on a compressor with a solenoid before. Thanks in advance.

I dont diagnose ac. I really dont know that much about charging them with a can from empty. I use my shop neighbors ac recharge machine through the low and high ports.

@@MegaMilesBen no prob. thanks for getting back to me. I’m using manifold gauges and the compressor usually kicks on at a certain point, but this one isn’t and I know it still needs another 8 ounces to be within spec.

Change the AC compressor on a 3.5 XLE like a real man. A squirrel could take the compressor off on those 2.4’s.
