AC/DC had long been one of the loudest bands on the planet and, when they played the Auckland venue in 2015, they ignited a row over noise pollution. The gig by the Australian musicians could be heard four miles away, across Waitematā Harbour in Birkenhead. The band were measured at 103 decibels and their music set off numerous car alarms outside the venue.

This concert… at River Plate stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina 2009… has to be the most legendary combination of band and audience ever filmed. This kind of crowd, this passion, this atmosphere is unique. Pretty much every touring band that has played in Argentina has said they are the greatest audience anywhere.

Hi Inna, The song itself was released in 1980, This is Brian Johnson on vocals, he was 62 here, he's now 75 and still performing today with AC/DC, the lead guitarist is Angus Young, who was 54 here, he's now 68 and also still with the band, as is drummer Phil Rudd, 69, and bassist Cliff Williams, now 73, The significance with the horns is referring to their classic tune Highway to Hell 😀 😀 🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸 Would love you to check out Thunderstruck from this very same concert 😀😀🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸

Inna This song is the main track of AC/DC's return nearly 2 years after their lead singer, Bon Scott of alcohol poisoning. They were considering to disbanded as a band, but Scott's family that Bon love them to continue as AC/DC. They slowly plan to return with auditioning vocalists as Scott's replacements, "big shoes to fill" They picked Brian Johnson as their lead vocalist. In 1980, AC/DC released Back In Black, mega-hit with their fans. Only minor lineup changes since with Angus' (guitarist in school uniform) brother, Malcom (rhythm guitarist) left the band for medical reason and died from those reasons. His and Angus' nephew, Steve "Stevie" Young stepped in his uncle's place.

AC/DC was formed in Australia in 1973 by brothers Angus Young (lead guitar) and (the late) Malcolm Young (rhythm guitar)... who were immigrants from Scotland. Earliest footage of AC/DC is from 1974, the band did a TV appearance w/ a different line-up and Dave Evans (vocals) performing their song - 'Can I sit next to you girl?' Angus Young took on the persona of a schoolboy on stage. That same year, Dave Evans quit... Bon Scott (vocals) joined and re-shaped AC/DC's sound into a proper hard rock... Scott was older and had been performing in bands/ groups since the late 60's - he recorded their first albums which were released in 1975. They filmed their first music video for "It's a long way to the top (if you wanna rock n roll)" in Melbourne in 1975... and then the video for 'Jailbreak' from their 1976 album 'Dirty deeds done dirt cheap" (AC/DC's 3rd album) before they were signed internationally. "Let there be rock" was their 4th album and they shot a video for the single 'Let there be rock' in a church. By 1978, AC/DC had left Australia and toured Europe and the USA for their next 2 albums 'Powerage' (1978) and 'Highway to hell' (1979)... By late 1979, 'Highway to hell' became their first gold-selling record. Tragedy struck AC/DC in early 1980, when lead singer Bon Scott was found dead in a friend's car after passing out from a night of heavy drinking. Devastated by loss, AC/DC decided to honor Bon Scott by recording a new album w/ a new singer... Brian Johnson (vocals) joined in 1980, also being a veteran singer of the UK band Geordie in the 70's... The 1980 album 'Back in black' became their biggest career record, selling over 12 million copies at the time (25 million copies in the US to date - 4th best selling album of all time!) The tracks from that album are classics - 'Back in black'... 'You shook me all night long'... 'Hells bells'... "Rock n roll ain't noise pollution"... 'Shoot to thrill"... etc. AC/DC's albums in the 80's didn't sell as much, but they still made hits like - 'For those about to rock'... 'Who made who'... 'Heatseeker'... In 1990, AC/DC scored a major hit - 'Thunderstruck'... from the album "The Razor's Edge" and the band made another career landmark. The band continued making records, but less frequently - 'Ballbreaker' (1995)... 'Stiff upper lip' (2000) and 'Black ice' (2008). In 2013, the band announced that guitarist Malcolm Young was retiring because he was afflicted w/ dementia (he passed away in 2017) and their nephew Stevie Young (rhythm guitar) replaced Malcolm. They released 'Rock or bust' in 2014... and then their last album in honor of Malcolm Young in 2020, titled 'Power up' 🤘🤘⚡⚡

Those lighted red horns are from Angus Young (lead guitar) who wears them in the character of the devil as he performs the AC/DC song 'Highway to hell'... On the cover of their 1979 album 'Highway to Hell'... Angus is pictured w/ horns and a tail (the late singer Bon Scott is in a priest's outfit) 😈
@jeff316
@jeff316 Жыл бұрын
Not in the character of the devil. They simply add to his image of a rebellious schoolboy. He used to draw a picture of himself with them. Btw...the studio gave him devil horns and a tail on their "Highway to Hell" cover without his or the band's consent.

@@jeff316 No u were wrong about Dave Evans... and u r wrong about this. The studio does nothing, dingus... the label did not even want to call the album 'Highway to hell'... It was purely AC/DC's call, as was the cover.

Hi Inna! I'm right now, watching almost all of your videos (Especially the Rock videos, actually 😜). That's how I came across your channel last night. I was watching a Radiohead video and KZbin suggested me your reaction video about the same song). Anyway! The main reason why I'm writing this comment is to answer the two questions you asked in this video : The guitarist, whose name you ask for, is Angus Young. Along with his brother (Malcolm Young, the other guitarist), he's the band's founder. About the “horns”, they're very common in rock. The gesture has been known since antiquity and has different meanings according to the different cultures. But in rock, it was the singer Ronnie James Dio, from the band “Black Sabbath”, who popularized the gesture during the 1980 Heaven and Hell tour. He inherited the sign from his Sicilian grandmother, who regularly used it to ward off the evil eye. In rock culture (hard rock culture especially), the horns sign is a gesture of approval and complicity between fans. AC/DC just had the idea of materializing this sign in the form of a headband. 🤘😜

The Lead guitarist (Angus Young) has aged a bit more in this recording. But he still absolutely kills it. But there was a recording for Live at Donington on Back in Black. In that video he plays the breakdown while dancing, while his eyes are closed WITHOUT GOING OFF BEAT OR MESSING UP. thats just so fucking badass to me

You can't go wrong with AC/DC, next up, same show and Hell's Bells. You pretty much knew what you were going to get with this band and they always delivered. Saw them in the football stadium in Foxboro MA around 20 years ago, it was almost as crazy as this was, LOL! Nothing like a Rock Concert my dear, I've been to at least 500 concerts in the last 52 years. The best live bands I saw at their peak are Pink Floyd (4 times, twice in the 70s), The WHO 6 times, once with Keith Moon and the original lineup, every time John Entwhistle (best bass ever) was still alive and in the band and lastly, Black Sabbath 13 times (8 with Ozzy, 3 with Dio, once each Ian Gillian & Glenn Hughes). David Gilmour, Pete Townsend and Tony Iommi are better than any hype, their live videos are worth pursuing. They were a cut above. If you want to see any of the old time legends, I wish you luck and hope someone comes nearby. There are some younger, contemporary Rock Bands that have proved to this old hippie they will bring rock well into the 21 st century. They all have female lead singers and some are all ladies, and they all have old school chops with their own, updated rock sound for a modern audience but appeals to old schoolers as well. Check out Halestorm, Plush, Liliac, Simply Reckless, Dorothy, Samantha Fish and others for showing the world that Rock is NOT Dead, not by a long shot. These ladies will Rock your world, they sure do mine. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶

You're comment about Phil Rudd (the drummer) smoking on stage, you have to remember that various countries have different rules (and Laws) about smoking in public areas and closed venues - and Argentina had (in 1979) more lax rules in place meaning that this was (then) legal.

@@michaelgibson6204 Mike...your second comment is more accurate than your first. The horns were not a "tribute" to Bon, nor were they an indication of where he was going to party in the afterlife. They are not devil worshippers at all, and the song "Highway to Hell" is not about going to hell. Malcolm, in fact, had a Christian burial. The horns simply represent Angus' rebellious schoolboy image.

You are right, she is adorable! My hearing loss was compounded from many years of hard rock shows but the worst perps for excessive volume were Deep Purple (inside they were fine but a huge outdoor show in Hartford CT you could hear in New Haven on Long Island Sound! Also Motorhead, saw them open for Ozzy (with Randy Rhodes) which was plenty loud enough but then saw them in a large bar in W Hartford and we were right against the stage, just to the left of Lemmy. As soon as he hit the first note we knew we were in trouble, a fair number of 'fans' left as they could not handle it. Ears rang for 3 days and lost a bit but damn, was worth seeing Lemmy sweating bullets and going crazy! 🎸
