The last of ACDC's classic albums. Was underrated at the time, but history has proven this to be a great album. There wasn't much in the way of good hard rock summer of 1985 and Metallica hadn't yet taken over the metal world, so as a 13 year kid who knew he wasn't into new wave I have fond memories of listening to this for the first time and falling in love with it. By 1986 Master of Puppets along with Maiden's Somewhere in Time were the albums of choice for a generation of metalheads to come.

Great song but the video…. well…. Let’s just say the mid-80s were very challenging and confusing time for all hard rock bands that were very popular in the 70s, and many of them made half-hearted, and some full-hearted attempts to stay relevant and cool, especially with the younger demographic. I entered high school in 1983 right when things really changed musically and also culturally, but I was already hardcore 60s and 70s rock fan. Zeppelin, Floyd, Hendrix, uBeatles, Sabbath, Priest, Maiden, and of course AC⚡️DC, among a host of others. I remember how strong the alien new 80s wave came on. You may look at this and say we’ll how could they cheese out so bad, but at that time there was no holding back the tide of change. It was as it a spell had been cast. That’s it yes. A spell. Even I who was a huge fan of older music was shocked if a big rock act from the previous decade did not update their sound or look. It was as if it was embarrassing if they didn’t, even though I tended to deride them at the same time for doing so. I would have felt equally embarrassed for them if they hadn’t changed to go with the tide. You HAD to. I don’t know how else to explain it. It was a unstoppable force of cultural change away from the hippie hangover 70s and into this new not just look and feel but it was a new reality, a new paradigm. Materialism was coming. Modernization was coming. Increased social responsibility was coming, along with the rise of the female and minorities in western society. The Digital Age was rapidly developing. Cable TV and computers were here. The visual was overtaking the sonic. Appearance now mattered. It’s telling how this video represents all that. With the suits marching in almost menacingly, signaling the dominance of business in the decade. And the colored girl with the spiky hair taking center stage, really taking over the video. Not that they were racists by any means, but you would never see anything like that in a video by a band like AC⚡️DC just a few years earlier. The same with the suits. And much else of what was in the video. Like I said, all bands that wanted to remain relevant felt they had to make these, for lack of a better word, “concessions” to the 80s if they wanted to stay relevant. And I’m reality, they did. But a few artists in this predicament got it right or at least pulled it off decently well and also made some real interesting music. ZZ Top did. Rush did. Heart did. Robert Plant did. Genesis did. But many others struggled to and their efforts came off as forced or awkward at best. And AC⚡️DC was one of them. Musically they hung in there ok. They still were a platinum band. But they definitely felt a bit like fish out of water and it shows I’m videos like this. And no doubt they, And many other popular hard rock bands from the 70s like them, breathed a collective sigh relief when the 90s came along! Hey I’m
