Harrison and I check out, discuss, and react to some classic AC/DC with Bon Scott still as the front man, and he KILLS it not only on vocals but bagpipes as well.
Follow me on Instagram if you like, lots of family pics and funny stuff. We keep it pretty light.

The story is that Bon came to Angus and Malcolm and said that he wanted to contribute to the song instrumentally. Bon and Malcolm were stunned, one of them asked, "What do you want to do? Do you play an instrument?" Bon goes, "I play bagpipes." Bon's dad was the director of the Highland Bagpipe Corps. By the way, it was Angus' and Malcolm's sister that came up with the idea of Angus wearing the school boy uniform on stage. They had tried other gimmicks before settling on that.

Prefer the video version from 'Countdown' where they are all on the back of a flatbed truck. It is going down one of the main streets of Melbourne, Victoria with three Scots Bagpipers (in full regalia) backed up to the cabin of the truck so they can play whilst the vehicle is moving.

That's not the only reason why Angus Young always wears that schoolboy uniform. Apparently when asked in an interview about it, he said his teacher told him he will never get anywhere in his life. So basically the uniform is a dig back at her.

Speaking of the bagpipes. I have Scotch-Irish blood in me from my mothers side. So the pipes touch my soul!!! And Bon rocks on this song. There is a version of this song where they are in a city on a wagon. there are men marching behind them playing the pipes. They almost have to run to keep up. Later they are up on the wagon with the band!!!! his is a great video... Thank you all........

I knew this stuff when I was a baby pushing myself out of the womb to get more ROCK! I still find it amazing that people haven't heard of the legendary bands or their songs. Are people under a rock? Open your ears and ROCK EVERYONE. You know what it took for me to even get to listen to Rock music! Buying the vinyl and holding it like a precious egg with a huge smile on my face. So eager to get home and lay that black disc down and watch it spin. The magazine stands and MTV told us so much. I would never trade it for anything! I can't forget killing my parents car battery so many time tuning into the rock stations. What a time period!

I love both Bon Scott and Brian Johnston, they both brought their own singing style to AC/DC. They are one of the biggest if not the biggest band to come out of Australia and there is another clip of "It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Want to Rock 'N' Roll)" where they road around the streets of Melbourne I believe on the back of a flat bed truck playing it live, I'll put the link at the bottom. defiantly should do more AC/DC maybe research some more Aussie singers/bands. Fun Fact: the bands name came from the plug on Angus Young's sisters sewing machine.

the A on the school outfit hat is for Ashfield High School where Angus went to school in Sydney Australia, though he never completed school he left at age 15 to play in his brother's band, Malcom and Angus rocked it , Malcolm Mitchell Young was an Australian musician who was the co-founder, rhythm guitarist, backing vocalist and songwriter of the hard rock band AC/DC. Except for a brief absence in 1988, he was a member of AC/DC from its inception in 1973 until retiring in 2014 due to health reasons and died in 2017. Angus McKinnon Young( the well know Australian Guitarist in AC/DC who does ten-minute solos) is an Australian musician, best known as the co-founder, lead guitarist, songwriter, and the only remaining founding member of the hard rock band AC/DC. He is known for his energetic performances, schoolboy-uniform stage outfits, and his own version of Chuck Berry's Duckwalk

I loved seeing Daryl Somers at the end - that guy spent most of his career being upstaged by a Pink Ostrich. He actually had a long career as a tv variety host starting out on Childrens TV and ending up with the same Ostrich Puppet offsider hosting a Saturday Night Variety Show that definitely was going way over kids heads. If you ever get a chance check out some Skyhooks like Women in Uniform or Horror Movie - they were around the same era as AC/DC and had some truly ground breaking stuff that still holds up pretty well.

The best version is the live one they did on the back of a truck for countdown in melbourne. I saw them in 1974 at hordern pavillion Australia Angus was 16.At that time angus played real fast but didnt pay attention to the sound between notes and lacked soul. Bon was brought up in Kirriemuir in Angus, at least until his parents emigrated to Austraila when he was 6. Fun Occurance:- there's an actor called Enn Reitel, who, despite his name, was a fellow Angus lad. Enn decided to try his luck as an actor in Austraila in the late 70's. Bon, who'd never met him before, found out on the grapevine what was happening, met Enn at Sydney Airport, offered to put him up, and the two proceeded to get merrily pissed.....

Very cool, my wife and I are hoping to make it to Scotland within a year or less. We might actually have plans to stay there for a few months in the future too as soon as Annie graduates high school.

Best clip of this, is on the back of a truck driving the streets playing, seeing people running to get close. I think it is impossible to find now, but it was the original telly clip.

Bon Scott took lessons in Oz to learn the bagpipes, and probably played it in the studio reording of this song. I don't want to burst anybody's bubble , but I suspect that there is a lot of 'miming' to the song going on here. I'm sure he is not actually playing them in this clip. Doesn't take anything away from a tremendous band palying an awesome, down to earth, basic rock 'n roll song. Loved this video !

I love that you include your kids, it's a great way to introduce them to classic rock, i played Led Zeppelin, AC⚡DC, Pink Floyd, etc for my kids in the 90s, and now they play it for my grandchildren, and they love it, let the rock live on 🤟

This is Bon with his bad teeth. One of the first things he did when they started making real money was get his teeth fixed. From what Iv'e read he was very proud to have them fixed.

I didn't even know Australian Bandstand was still going on 1976. It started in 1960 and was on the Nine Network. Countdown, which was on ABC Australia was the big music program, especially among the youth. It started in 1975 and ended in 1987.

OMG. Darryl Sommers hosting!!!!!! Original host was Brian Henderson. Darryl Sommers was getting big at the time and they may've got him to host, as he was only 25 at the time, and Brian would've been around 50 years old. Darryl Sommers was the host of Hey Hey It's Saturday, which stated in 1971 and ended in 1998. Originally a Saturday morning program for kids, it evolved through the years to become a Saturday evening show for the whole family. Came back around 2010 for a revival, but only lasted one year. Darryl then went onto hosting Dancing with the Stars Australia for a few years. Owns Sommers Carroll productions.
