Love these recruit videos . I’m gonna be starting an academy with a big city department. Super nervous , but also so excited for the opportunity!These videos have given so much motivation ! Keep it up 👍🏼

Really missing the style and substance of the older videos from recent years past. I know the PIO team changed, but these academy heavy videos with little insight into the agency and missing the first person perspective are not as good. Also missing the station and fleet tours. 😢

Since this seems to be the video where people are expressing unsolicited feedback I figured I’d offer some as well lol. I think most people are missing the amount of work it takes to pull dash cam videos, audio files, and physically responding to fires to capture the vibe from older videos. The main goal of SMFR isn’t to provide entertainment for the masses and be a window into the national fire service it’s to provide feedback and engagement with their local. With that being said if the goal was to try and keep on brand from previous years the videos are falling short of that. The academy and major events doesn’t take much work to capture and create as they are fixed and always there. The videos offer good insight into an academy but Eric’s videos made people want to become South metro firefighters because it made people aware of an otherwise unknown district in the shadows of Denver and showcased how busy and the wide variety of calls the district offers. The old videos made you want to become a part of the team the videos now just serve as a generic view into what an academy is like and surface level info about the department. I know these videos take a lot of time to create but it might be time to manage expectations from the random people around the country of what the new chapter of this channel will become. Long story short: People traveled far and wide to join SMFR because firefighters want to be firefighters. The new direction misses this mark which is ok if that’s no longer the goal.

That would be cool to have the results on a follow up video. The recruits were creative on their ransom task. I know some people aren't as interested in some of the latest videos, but it all comes down to recruitment efforts (what the Dept is like, what the job entails, etc). The Academy definitely falls into that, just like the Day In The Life videos. Even though the PIO team has changed up, it's still a ton of work to put together these videos, in addition to other duties. Keep it going. You have a fan in GA.

I started watching this and then thought I need to go back and view just what has been happening at SMFR as I must have lost interest at some point. After viewing I think I know why I lost interest. The content was no longer very interesting, and I have to agree with dweiss101 below. I really appreciated the content and the variety that the POI Eric offered. There was lots of interest and entertainment, with the occasional major handling of tough fires. I liked referring firefighters who were interested in getting on a good progressive department with great people to work alongside. I hope that SMFR can get back into more firefighting and content like before.

There more academy videos as of recent because an academy is going on and that’s what’s important right now. Each video has its seasons. Sorry ride along aren’t happening just to entertain you. This is the real fire service not Chicago Fire or your dumb tv shows. This is why you’d never make it on a real fire department. The academy is the most important aspect of the fire service. If this doesn’t entertain you go back to sitting on your couch and eating.

the recruits have a 20 week academy that is 4 days a week, 10 hours a day.

I don't like theeee receuit videos. I miss the good ole videos of real life instances and lives of firefighters around rhe multiple stations. Although training is required for proper skills, its lackluster in viewing theese videos. Just my opinion.
