Loved this. Using the information we all gleaned from the Hawaiian 19th century newspepahs to reflect on a historical time when we still had newspapers and journalism and newsboys. My husband in Long Beach,CA managed a bunch of newsboys and that was only in the 1950's. Mahalo, Kumu for going outside the box. It isn't always about winning. From Oakland CA

This is a refreshing demonstration of the spirit of Merrie Monarch. It should NOT always be about the "rules"! Tradition is still present - I think the ancestors would be very pleased to see the growth of hula. Please restore respect to this fine halau (AHA) by rewarding their tremendous effort.

I always wait to see this awesome halau! So different & refreshing. There should be an award for crowd/viewer favorite. It's a travesty that they've never placed. Auwe! They are joyful & inspiring. Not the same old, same old. Same halau win every year. BORING!!
