On this week’s Academy Of Tone - which is a pre-recorded show - we’re back with Thomas and guest Nils Finkeisen at No. 1 Guitar Center in Hamburg to shoot out the AMP1 iridium Edition against some iconic high-gain amps, check out the Crossroads Festival, and more!
This week, we’re actually in the process of moving house at BluGuitar, so we’re focusing most of our efforts on packing up our office and warehouse stuff to transfer to our new place. That’s why this show is not 100% live - but don’t worry, business as usual should be resumed next week, and we’re excited to be able to show you the new place when it’s ready.
In this week’s show, Thomas and Nils sit down together to make a detailed comparison between the AMP1 Iridium Edition, the Diezel VH4, and the ENGL Savage 120 E-610/2 MKII. Nils provides the high-gain riffage while Thomas A/Bs the amps together in as many different settings and styles as possible, so we can really see how close the Iridium gets to its two bigger brothers.
There's also a Thomas walkaround at No. 1 Guitar Center - with maybe a few fine vintage items to be seen - and the Crossroads Festival, an acoustic guitar festival that takes place every year in Hamburg. There’s plenty of great companies, builders and artists in attendance, and lots to see.
