Hello Everyone
this video is about a common mistake that I see happen over and over again, from students and junior animator.
When you do a body mechanic shot, before start to work on your pose and make sure they look as good as possible is also important to check first the overall flow and energy of your pelvis and make sure you are going in the right direction

The 2 specific things from this video that I could try is to begin with spline interpolation to key just the pelvis and feet; and adjust the arcs before blocking the full poses. Experienced animators would correctly tell me there was a problem with my spacing, but would not tell me how to fix the spacing, assuming that I, an inexperienced student, knew how to improve it. Their advice was not very helpful, but this practical example is helpful.

I've been having the same issue with my instructors. They're correct in pointing out the flaws with my work, however it feels like they're only there to critique the concepts and not actually teach them. It's almost paradoxical that I am expected to know how to correctly apply body mechanics before entering a class on body mechanics. I'll have to give this workflow a try.

Realized that hip is the key factor here, solving the spacing issue with only the hip and the rest will be easy to do. Thank you for such precious lesson.

it's a great thing to start from spline before blocking, thanks! some thing i noticed, the focal length of ref camera is pretty important - to match rig dimensions with moving distance - if the guy is bigger, he runs shorter distance, and the shot looks slower.

I think in this video i really noticed why we learn bouncing ball. Its not about the bouncing or the "ball" its about only focusing about spacing and timing. And for your human rig you try to apply that to your most important bone : the hip for example. If the hip moves like you intented to, then you can adjust the rest and it will look good. In this case you had to adjust the hip to not be linear all the time but to hold the position and then quickly accelerate to give weight to your character when jumping: 21:05 That was the true turning point for the animation. And also the continue the acceleration curve because well physics?

hello! thanks you very much for this awesome video!!! if I've well understood, compared to the reference you need to add more weight and/or more inertia to the character when you animate, right?

Spline has always led me in the wrong direction, Plateau tangents can give some cleaner arcs on the Graph Editor if Spline isn't looking right.

how would you do something that you couldn't get a specific reference for, like a longer complex action shot? would you take a bunch of different reference clips and edit together?

Ciao Alessandro com’è va? Questo video è un buono suggerimento per l’animazione gli studenti hanno bisogno di usare stepped mode per fare “the double keying method” grazie per il video non vedo l’ora di vedere il prossimo. Ciao
