It's tough racing once a week. I usually only race once a week because of work and family it's really hard to compete. I like the way you race, your a clean driver and your commentary is great.
@chrisrogerssimracing2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, that’s very kind of you to say. ACC is by far the hardest sim to just ‘hop in’ and race. Setups seem really important, and I just don’t have time to work on them. The last few races I’ve ended up finding free ones to download from KZbin and trying my best with them. But I think to be properly competitive in ACC, you need to put the hours in practicing with those setups. I’m more of a default setup guy 😂 the racing is the fun bit, so that’s what I need to spend my limited time doing. Glad to hear I’m not the only one!

That Oulton race is painfully familiar to several I've had this week. Throw in drivers with terrible ping and Oulton Park becomes a house of horrors.

Very tough, it feels so narrow, and even narrower when you’re on track with 28 other GT3 cars! I’ve seen some rough accidents there in British Superbikes too over the years. I’ve had a lot of good competitive races lately, so knew a bad one was waiting around the corner somewhere!
@bustab8649 Жыл бұрын
I feel your pain too Chris. Oulton Park is not an easy track. I practiced it last week, but was unable to get time to race on LFM, perhaps it's just as well seeing your experiences of racing there. Those chicanes are really difficult to get right, but unfortunately they do have a huge effect on lap times. Next week Zolder and perhaps better luck.

Hi Chris, more luck next time! Although I quite enjoy Oulton Park, it is really hard to race there against other drivers. No wonder there were quite some accidents. On the bad side there was this Roper guy who missed his breakpoint, aimed just for your rear end (from his onboard there is nothing else noticeable), takes you out (and indirectly the very unlucky Porsche guy too, who had no chance to avoid driving into you) and just drove of, never even intending of giving the position back to you. Very bad behaviour! After the race I would have questioned him about his accident. Without any sorry from him, he should be reported. On the very good side I have to mention Coulthard in the McLaren. He missed the breakpoint even worse BUT he drove offtrack aiming at no one, slowing done his car superbly, avoiding any contact (with a little luck) and passed you some point later in an aggressive but clean way. Coulthard, well done!!!
@chrisrogerssimracing2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Joe, I went into Oulton Park fearing the worst - I don’t think I’ve ever had a successful race there! Great shout-out for Coulthard, that certainly was a miraculous bit of avoidance on lap one (with a bit of luck thrown in!). I knew it was close when I saw it in my mirror, but didn’t realise how close until I saw the replay! Sadly no apology or anything from Roper. I did send a message to Mario in the Porsche, to apologise for him getting caught up in it. I know it wasn’t my fault, but I thought it was only right to get in touch with him, as his race was ruined too. He was cool, of course he saw everything happen, so knew there was nothing I could have done. Fingers crossed for better luck next week 🤞

Yeah, this is my major gripe after running LFM for a while.... I'm sure Split 1 is great (nowhere near fast enough to join, but giving them the benefit of doubt), maybe even split 2. But for the rest of us plebs, we're stuck in a field of people who think they're eSport level. Lots of pace, but zero race-craft. Don't get me wrong, I've had plenty of fun races on LFM, but I'm getting seriously tired of people who either a) can't keep their car on the track, or b) have no idea how to run in a crowd. Lap 1 on LFM is basically like tap-dancing through a minefield while juggling chainsaws. You have cars sending it every which way, no matter if it makes sense or not. With fairly predictable results. :D
@chrisrogerssimracing2 жыл бұрын
Exactly. No surprises here that I wasn’t in either of the top 2 splits. I was in split 3. There’s just so little room on this narrow track, and with 29 GT3 cars it was always going to be rough. I tried my best to stay safe around those alongside or in front of me, but we can’t control what happens behind us. It looks like I wasn’t the only one to get nudged out from behind… it was happening everywhere!

Think Oulton Park is a bit too tight for the GT3's. Good luck for your next race 👍.
@chrisrogerssimracing2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, 100% agree. It feels way too narrow. And with so little room to pass, it encourages people to push beyond the limit. Zolder next week, which is a track I love. So I’m hoping for better luck! Cheers for watching

Dear me - lots of people misjudging braking throughout this one, with you paying the penalty more than once! Hard lines Chris - not your combo and unlucky on the damage. ACC still looks beautiful though!
@chrisrogerssimracing2 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, I’d started making a couple of sloppy mistakes even before the damage, so having a few handling issues was always going to send me backwards. Think it was as much psychological as anything, as a couple of my lap times post-crash were pretty decent. It was just much harder to do everything! Oulton looks class here though, the replays in particular are ACC at its best 👍

This is a tough track. some issues look setup related. raise the rear. max wing. tc8. also noticed your wheel is clipping a lot. might want to try lowering gain in game. use higher caster to counteract.
@chrisrogerssimracing2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, quite possibly. I ended up checking out Luke Addison’s channel and found his M4 Oulton Park setup to download. Didn’t make any changes to that, other than fuel and tyre pressure adjustments. Actually, I really liked the feel of the setup. When I’ve downloaded other ‘fast guy’ setups, they often feel really loose and on-the-edge. But this one felt really grounded and stable… at least, it did in practice and qualifying. My qualy time was actually a good 0.7 off where I should have been, but I was unlucky with running into traffic on my best flying laps. So should have qualified near the top 10, with a bit more luck. That’s why I’m wondering if the rear-end damage from that early bump in T3 on lap 1 might have affected me a bit. Because I struggled with the car a lot more after that.
@chickey312 жыл бұрын
@@chrisrogerssimracing The damage will deff hurt you. Rear ended damage usually takes off the diffuser reducing downforce. equals oversteer. The 2nd sector is very technical. There are curbs you can use and curbs you can’t. The Porsche feels really planted around here. I’ve been running it this week. very nimble and good on the brakes. Oulton can be exhausting. requires max concentration. my only suggestion would be TC8 it really helps on the M4. or raising the rear helps give you more downforce and turn in on slow corners. good luck 👍

So frustrating. Seemingly happens to me every race at Oulton park. I race clean, and someone else takes me out.
@chrisrogerssimracing2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, any race at Oulton Park always seems to end in disaster for me. I feared the worst coming into this race. I think it’s because it’s such a narrow track, and difficult to overtake, people just either lose their patience or try to push a bit too hard. Fingers crossed we’ll get better luck next week 🤞
@michaelm56622 жыл бұрын
@@chrisrogerssimracing Totally. I've done 3 races this week and my SR has taken a -.5 hit! Even with 2 races intentionally qualifying in last place to avoid the crashes, something always catches up with me. Decided to sit the rest of this week out until the track changes, even though Oulton Park is a blast to drive on.
@michaelm56622 жыл бұрын
@@atticushexcel9567 lol yep, similar to my Oulton park experience. Honestly I think it’s the track. I think LFM gets an overly bad rap for this. The majority of my experiences have been good. Just last week at Laguna Seca all my races were clean expect for ones that I punted myself, and I did 6+ races last week. I say give it some more tries before throwing in the towel. Even verstappen has a dnf now and again… it’s just a part of racing sometimes even if it can be worse in the rookie license level. Oulton has been hands down the worst track for unforced errors causing accidents. It’s narrow, very bumpy, and has big curbs. With all that it’s VERY easy to disrupt the car and find yourself punted into another car even if your trying to race clean.
