ACC | People Need to CALM Down! LFM GT4 @ Donington Park

Hey everyone, it’s a bonus race from Assetto Corsa Competizione on Low Fuel Motorsport this weekend as I take on the GT4 series at Donington Park.
It’s a HUGE single-split grid of 29 cars, and I’ll be starting from P13 after setting a qualifying lap time of 1.35.6. I need to find at least another 0.4 or 0.5 to even think about challenging for a top 10 and, I’ll be realistic… that’s very unlikely to happen.
So today is all about consolidating a top 15 position and TRYING to stay out of trouble. When you see how wild it gets out there, you’ll understand why that’s such a challenge in an ACC LFM race sometimes!

Yep, couldn’t agree more. The first lap was insane. Shame I couldn’t get anywhere near my qualifying times in the race, even with a clear track. Not quite sure how I managed that qualy time!

Yeah, the first lap in particular was ridiculous. The phrase ‘bull in a china shop’ sums up the way many drivers approached this one! I knew my pace wasn’t great, so keeping myself safe and protected was always the main goal. Fortune favours the coward, in races like this!

Good run there Chris! The first part of the race, the way they were driving reminds me why I don't race in open forums much anymore. No regard for anyone and running into corners they have no way of making is senseless.. Thanks for sharing with us!!!!

Yeah, there were a lot of bad decisions in this one. The first lap alone was shocking! I knew I wasn’t particularly fast, so just did everything I could to stay safe. Pretty much the only thing you can do in a race like this. Cheers Walt.

Yeah absolutely. I knew it was bad by the end of the first lap, when I was having to voluntarily run off track in order to stay safe 🤣 but achieved it, which made the result all the more satisfying. Cheers!

Ive had a few races here this week. Been really good clean racing. Looks you ended up in one of the more interesting races haha

Yeah, I’ve done three races and the other two were flawlessly clean. Trouble was, I spent 25 minutes out of 30 driving around on my own, so they were pretty dull. Even though this one was ridiculously rough in places, I at least had some decent battles out there! So it was good fun.

Yeah, the first lap in particular was ridiculous. Everybody was SO aggressive… there’s 30 minutes lads, calm down a bit 🤣 Solid enough race for me, I never felt completely comfortable or fully in control, but did enough to keep myself safe.

Good race report Chris, you played it well considering the carnage out on track! I've never tried the GT4 class in ACC, any tips for someone who's exclusively raced in GT3's?

It’s quite a different feel, the GT4 cars aren’t as nimble so cornering in particular can gain or lose you a lot of time. I can only recommend doing a good stint or two in them first, to train your muscle memory to be familiar with the GT4 ‘feel’ 👍

I would like to do some GT4 race myself but there are too many AM drivers who don't know how to race cleanly, yet. I don't blame them because they just need time to learn but for more experienced drivers it is not pleasant to drive with them. At least for me. I hope I can get a spot in the next multiclass race on monday this time.

Yeah, it’s a shame there aren’t a few more entries, because then you’d get multiple splits based on rating. This was a single split, so 29 cars with all kinds of licences and ratings in there. I did do another race in this combo, which was impeccably clean… however it was also very boring, as I spent 25 of the 30mins driving around by myself 🤣

Wow! Glad you got a result as good as that considering how the race started. For a minute, I though you were doing Need for Speed videos! Looked like a bunch of arcade racers; full throttle, no brakes, and bounce off everyone else to get ahead! Chris, do you use the in-game designs and change them to your colors (yellow, black, and white)? I've been making liveries in ACC for the past few months and would like to offer that to you.

Thank you Eric, that’s very kind! I do just choose in the in-game default patterns and change the colours… that’s the limit of my ACC paint job skills! I do have a custom Lamborghini livery for my GT3 racing that another viewer kindly made me, but I don’t have one for this Porsche. And I expect I’ll try a few more races in it, as this one was fun (if a little too chaotic) 🤣

Most people have no idea how to drive GT4 cars! If they were doing it in real life they would be blowing engines and hear boxes like crazy

The Black Friday sale on Steam is a good bet for discounts on ACC and its DLCs. But it’s also worth checking CD Keys or Instant Gaming… they often have good deals. I’ve bought a couple of ACC DLC packs from them in the past 👍

The GT4 series can be a bit of a lucky dip. As it’s mostly only single splits, you get a very wide range of abilities on the same grid. From the very fastest to the rookies and those sorely lacking in racecraft - we saw a few of them in this one!

It's just pathetic racing from those morons who just think they can barge through people in corners. One of the reasons I prefer to do AI racing these days.
