Happy new year Chris!! Good to see your content back! This sim is getting unforgiving as time passes (and I don´t know if I like it KKKK), its quite easy to loose control of the car, so better watchout those "red" tires or we get several offtracks in a single race. Hot race this one, with a bit of everything, a full menu of racing fun!! A top 10 finish its always good, and in this sim feels like a win. Cheers buddy, and keep the videos coming 🙃🙂

Zolder is a hard track to race, it’s just so easy to get it wrong, I have 2 races coming up next week. The first race is GT3’s I’m driving the Mustang and I’m not confident at all, my driving style seems to destroy the tyres and I’m not even that quick. Later in the week I will be racing GT4’s, this time in the Camaro, feels easy to drive after the Mustang but it could just mean I’m a long way off the pace. First 2 league races this year may not be my best. Great video, love the commentary as usual, so entertaining I can’t help but come back for more.

I’ve only done this one race, but I’d say it compares very favourably to ACC. It feels way more vibrant and responsive. But I always did love the feel of rF2, which has pretty much been carried over into LMU. ACC is a tricky one… it’s got a feel very much of its own. I find it’s hard to drive any other sim, if you’re ’dialled in’ to the ACC way of driving. It always takes me a week or two to readjust!

Nice to see you back Chris. Think of this as getting your new year off to a good start. I've personally missed the drama of your races! I don't mind paying for DLC on an early access title, but only for unimportant content, but locking almost all of the GT3 and a few circuits behind it, this early, leaves a bit of a sour taste. I'll be trying out the sim soon, now that it has VR support.

I'm still a firm believer in oldschool gaming rules... if a game chooses the "early access" route, they shouldn't be charging microtransactions and/ or paid DLC. I want to get LMU, but 1. I am too poor to afford it, and 2. I don't want to give any money into a game that's got DLC in an early access game.
@chrisrogerssimracing2 күн бұрын
Yeah, I think I’m from exactly the same ‘old school’ mentality as you! I bought Early Access as soon as it was available, and was happy to, hoping it would help them get the project to a finished state. I’m still hoping they get there, because it’s great fun to drive. But it’s still missing a lot of the basic features I’d like, so I’d love to see those appear before I start investing in DLC. Cheers 😃

Yeah, to be fair, the McLaren was great fun. I’ve never driven it in any other sim, so can’t really compare it to anything. But it seemed to be made to a very high standard. I’m sure the DLC is excellent value if the other cars are as good, and you’re able to use them a lot. Just for me, with my limited online time, I’d probably prefer a more complete offline game so I could get more use out of them. Cheers for watching 😃

@chrisrogerssimracing2 күн бұрын
Yeah, I definitely agree, great fun. I know it’s only one race, but I’d say I liked the feel of it far more than ACC. It’s a nice touch for them to make one of the cars free, so everyone who supported the Early Access can at least join in the new races, even without buying the DLC.
@TimImasa2 күн бұрын
@ one thing i noticed driving the mclaren in LMU is I get a lot of FFB when breaking. Something that I dont feel on ACC and AM2. It almost feels like im about to lose control even on light breaking. Do you feel this as well?
@PaulMartIn-dm5oi2 күн бұрын
Hello stranger! The DLC whilst still in early access, is surely down to if you're someone who just records their races to put up on KZbin/Twitch, like yourself or someone who is going to evaluate a sim and give an assessment on said sim. You can't give an opinion on half a sim, so sort of have to buy everything. Now iRansom have held up their hands via email to their punters, ackowledging their poor tyre model and iffy netcode and that they have employed new people to improve both, so is that 14 years of early access? Feels very much like it for me. Then of course there is Raceroom which is still to make V1.0, so it appears people don't like buying DLC when a company calls it early access but don't mind buying it when they don't. There is also those of us on a very tight budget that take advantage of getting a foot in the door at a more reasonable price, as I also did with AMS2, which is not in early access but feels very much like it still is. Bloody minefield this sim racing, Happy New Year bud!
@chrisrogerssimracing2 күн бұрын
Yeah, for me, I just want an occasional race. That’s all I’m after these days, so I’m not really keen on buying DLCs unless it’s for a game I know I’m going to use a lot. These past couple of months, I’ve even lost a lot of interest in online racing, which is why I’ve let my iRacing account expire and haven’t done much in the way of LFM. Lately I’ve just been finding enjoyment with offline races, doing custom championships in RaceRoom and AMS2. I do really like LMU, and I’m grateful one of the GT3s is available to race if I want. But in my current position, I’d rather it finished the offline side of things (career modes, custom championships etc) before I considered investing more money in it. And as you rightly point out, spare cash is sadly tighter than it’s ever been, so I have to spend my pocket money wisely! Cheers, happy new year to you too.
@rendrag722 күн бұрын
I think the numbers online are testament to how good the racing is in this game, they can take as much of my money as they want as long as I can keep having this much fun racing online.
@chrisrogerssimracing2 күн бұрын
Yeah absolutely, if it’s one of your go-to sims and you’re getting enjoyment out of it, any extra purchases are excellent value. Sadly for me, I’m just not online often enough to make the DLCs worth it. I’d love to see an offline career mode and custom championships to complete it, though, so I could start doing my own offline series. That would be a big pull for me. Spot on about the online participation though… 10 splits for this race I did yesterday! Outstanding.

@gwr38452 күн бұрын
@@chrisrogerssimracing yeah you have the right idea with the line. The key is to cut to left early so you can brake as straight as possible to the right, wide out tight in- I usually feather the throttle a bit so the car is loaded at the front axle before braking. Then you just have to trail brake as much as you can and square off the apex to get a straight exit and back on power

Good race, Chris! Not bad for a sim, car, and track you're not familiar with. I found it odd that the car was defending on you when he was planning to pit for a penalty anyway. Not the most sportsmanlike decision. I agree about the DLC. In fact, I'm one step further than you. I have a hard time paying to play a beta. That's why I haven't gotten LMU yet. (Did you get my email about the Porsche livery?)

Yes, I think it’s perfectly reasonable to understand why anyone is reluctant to spend their money on something that isn’t finished. I was happy to buy the Early Access, purely because I always liked rFactor 2 and I was keen to see how its spiritual sequel was coming along (and lend it some support). But DLCs is a step too far for me at the moment, given I only fire it up for a quick race once every month or two. As for the email, I’ve just seen it now! I hadn’t checked my inbox at all over Christmas, but thank you very much for sending it… looks cracking! I’ll have to schedule in a GT4 race when the new season starts next week!
@GregReinacker2 күн бұрын
Enjoyed the race as always, Chris! I actually caved a couple of days ago and bought the season pass myself - I think it’s 10% off at the moment, which was a surprise. It’s funny - in iRacing, the McLaren is probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite GT3 - but in LMU, it’s my least favorite…in the fixed setup, at least, it’s very tricky to drive at the same pace of the other cars, at least for me.
@chrisrogerssimracing2 күн бұрын
I’ve actually never driven a McLaren GT3 in any sim before, so I’ve got nothing to compare it to. But I really enjoyed it in this race, it was fantastic fun. I was pretty loose in it for most of the race, but was certainly driving from lights to flag with a smile on my face, so on that basis it gets my thumbs-up! 👍

Chris I dont get it: people spend 15€ for one lousy car on iRacing but do not want to support a (struggeling) company thats been fair and transparent with their early access game?
@chrisrogerssimracing2 күн бұрын
I think the most important thing to remember is… people can spend their own hard-earned money on whatever they choose, for something that gives them enjoyment. You’re right, $15 is a lot of money for one car. But if you love driving it, and enjoy racing it every day/week, who are we to say it’s wrong? As for LMU, everything I say is purely on a personal level… I don’t race it enough to make it worthwhile for me to buy DLC. And it’s up to me how I spend my money. I spent money on the unfinished game when it first reached Early Access, but so far the features that would make me keen to play it more (career modes, custom championship seasons etc) haven’t materialised. The company has been 100% transparent with their DLC plans, I’ve got no problem with that at all, and I’m not even criticising it. I’m just saying, I wouldn’t want to spend more money until it’s complete and can offer me the features I’d enjoy playing more.
@SimRacerGump2 күн бұрын
Why spend more money on DLC’s when the game may never be finished?
@lukeduffy130Күн бұрын
I bought LMU I tried the gt3s, I spent enough money on it and I still don’t like it, I will be sticking with iracing, yes it’s more expensive but it’s also a lot more enjoyable for me personally, I also don’t agree I should spend my money because the company is struggling, that isn’t my problem nor should I have to bail them out either, LMU is going down the iracing path of subscription based racing which is fine if you game is good enough in the first place, I feel most big content creators are been paid to hype it up because they all say it’s amazing and most of the community say it isn’t, personally for me it feels I’m driving a hover craft!
@timwhitman3207Күн бұрын
The game is still feature incomplete and has plenty of bugs (you can watch Jimmy Broadbent's latest video for proof enough of the game's bugs). Early access is already a gamble that the game will eventually be given everything that was promised, why should anyone pay even more for a game that's still unfinished and has no guarantee of ever being finished? I think it's pretty shady to charge a subscription fee for a service that isn't even finished yet, and may never be finished. It's not the consumer's responsibility to keep a struggling business alive, especially when said business is struggling because of mismanagement and short sighted decisions their leadership brought on themselves. Maybe they wouldn't be struggling if they finished the product they sold in the first place before trying to add a season pass and subscription service to wring even more money out of their customers.
@AdrenaLukeYTКүн бұрын
I personally also refuse to pay for DLC when a game is in early access. DLC is supposed to be expansions of an already finished game. This is not how DLC is supposed to work. They're calling it DLC, but instead they're charging for each piece of content for them to finish the game. Think of it this way, let's say a mario video game is in early access and they only have 7 out of 10 planned levels developed in the game so far and you don't see mario saving the day at the end of the game yet and the story line isn't even finished. Then they finish level 8 of this hypothetical mario game and they decide to charge money for it calling "DLC" even though it isn't even an expansion to the original story, because the base story of the game isn't even finished yet, but they charge for level 8, then charge for level 9, then charge for level 10. Do you see the problem yet?

Funny thing about this game is that I got it for the GT3's, but now I find myself racing the silly space ship / fighter jet looking hyper cars! They are a lot of fun. Hope the GTE class will be alive and well too. The GTE Ferrari just feels soooo good to drive, even compared to the GT3 Ferrari. Everything feels so much more alive and dynamic. Bahrain, Fuiji and the Portugal track are oddly slippery no matter tyre temps I think. The game really shines on Le Mans, Spa and Imola. Thank you very much for high quality content and happy new year, and bind ABS to wheel buttons. Bahrain in particular needs ABS protection in the "bleed off" turns, and none on the turns after the long straights. Sorry for the rambling. A good sim just does that to me 🙂

I liked this McLaren GT3 car because I found it a little easier to handle than the GTE… particularly for me, as a simple arrive-and-drive player. All of the cars feel good. @@chrisrogerssimracing Glad that there finally is a game with GT3's _and_ sane and actually fun to drive default setups. I'm learning to drive the hyper cars. Only fiddling needed to make them not kill you really is brake balance and brake migration. I love ACC but the whole setup tuning thing is a bit off putting. The fact that there is a giant market for selling setups really should have the Italians rethink the very mediteranian tempered slap-in-the-face of their default setups :-)

I'm willing to bet you've never driven a GT3 car in real life. James Baldwin has, and according to him ACC does some things better such as how the car behaves while coasting off throttle and weight transfer, and LMU does some things better such as the braking which you mentioned which is correct, but the point I'm trying to make here is that neither of them are "superior" to the other, and you haven't driven a GT3 car in real life and neither have I. So neither of us are in a position to speak about what is and isn't similar to real life, but according to James Baldwin they both have strengths and weaknesses just in different ways (as far as physics go) As far as the pros and cons of the entire games go (so everything, not just physics), I'd definitely say ACC has less flaws than LMU. But ACC is not in early access to be fair, so LMU has a bright future if they can tackle the flaws.

My little 2 cents regarding paid dlc for an early access game: LMU is in such a great state for an early game that I would consider it a v1.0, last thing to add is driver swaps which are imminent. If you don't use the sim much then fair enough stick to the base content but if you play a lot and enjoy the racing then I don't see a problem buying the dlc. So many of us are loving this game that we now sub to the Pro tier for the extra goodies. I enjoyed watching this race, plenty of action! Hope you come back to LMU soon. Happy new year :)

That’s a very good point. I totally understand the reasoning for buying DLC if it’s a game you love, you’re regularly playing and getting enjoyment out of, no matter what state it’s in (and LMU is in a FAR better state now, compared to when I last played it). But for me personally, I’m reluctant to buy too many DLCs unless I know I’m going to be using them regularly ❤️

And while we’re at it, how dare you call me untrustworthy. I’ve been honest in saying I don’t own the DLC, and I’ve been honest with the reasons why. All I’m doing is having a race, using the content I own as an Early Access player, and making a video of the race.

Double standard? Coming from a game that’s in early access charging a subscription fee to race in anything other than what they tell you to race in? DLC is optional therefore has an option to not buy it! They put in the free gt3 car for a reason, and the reason will have been for people to play it knowing they will want to try more gt3s and eventually buy the content, to call him untrustworthy because he doesn’t wanna jump on a hype train is crazy! Nice to see you back again, Chris! All things considered, I think that race worked out. It's a shame you got tagged on corner 1 and lost all those spots, but at least you got them all back again by the end. I think you were fine at the end of the straight. You left as much room as you could, and he turned into you.

Cheers Pete, yeah I’ve got no idea how my pace relates to a while ago, but it felt reasonably quick. I’m sure I’d have been competing for top 10s if I’d been a split or two lower. Cheers mate, merry Christmas and thanks for all the support this year 😃
