This video is on point. I'm in the same boat as a lot of people here. Small talks aren't my thing personally. Not that it doesn't exist in my own culture but it doesn't flow the same way as it does in western cultures. I had to take jobs where I'm forced to initiate small talk everytime just because I was so bad at it or just don't have the motivation or desire to engage at all.

8. I like small talks. I think it is a good way to get to know new people. One thing that I use in small talks: I try to find commonalities or, if the person has a contrast opinion, I try to understand why they think differently. I liked the strategy about labeling, I'm definitely going to use that in my next small talk with a new person. Thanks for the video, I loooove your channel!

By and large I used to be the kind of person that I'd much rather keep it to myself pretty much every occasion, however over time I realized that it's powerful to strike up a conversation because it boots your self-confidence when you put yourself out there and get to know people, surely it's easier said than done, I would say I've enhanced my small talk skills considerately, I'm always trying to be positive and If someone vents to be I try to empathize and share a similar experience or I even try to sum up my opinion on that topic.

I suck at small talk, I dunno what to start. Then, I ostentatiously go with an "ahem- how are you?" Then they would be like "so, this was your contemplation for the past two minutes. I end up with a smile that seems like I had an instant compliment. So, number 1.

If two people have different backgrounds (one valuing small talk, the other maybe doesn't even know what it is), and they meet but the small talk does not work, they stay silent. Who is being rude in this situation? I understand that this channel is about teaching people how to speak, but assuming that everyone has to small talk because if they don't they have a problem, is a bit alienating and not particularly inclusive. But anyway kudos for great tips! As general rules they are awesome, thank you!

I hate small talk because it's in this moments when people realize or create a precipitated impression about our English. If we get bad in the first simple small talk, the face expression of the other part suggest the though "hmm... She is foreigner... And she doesn't speak English very well...". After this, is very difficult keep calm and we tend to confirm the bad expectation from other about our terrible English.

English is my native language, yet I feel English is not fitting. I mean it feels, to me, speaking English is not my original language. This is because, as an introvert with a talent for public speaking, English language makes for a lot of wasted space and time-in my humble opinion! Small talk, for example, feels a waste; like : "GET TO THE CRUX OR THE POINT" my head screams. ''What is the point here?" "Let us dive deep" , my mind thinks Or, let us talk about something of substance which will help us both, or the group at large, please! Small talk, however, allows room for diving deep. There are actually ❤️ loop holes in small talk where one can lead the other to a meaningful, purposeful, abundant conversation! I would not say it is manipulative, but I would say using "small talk" can be a strategy toward a particular goal, selfish or selfless. T Thank you, Hadar, my friend. I began today with prayers for help. I will say your video, Small Talk, is the third video of yours I have seen today. Much appreciations to you, Hadar, and many Blessings to you and your families!
