This is such a great and interesting video! I always like art class, but never had the resources or time to develop skills outside that 30 minutes a week in school because i had to work at a young age. I like how through a lot of your portfolio there is a strong focus on female perspectives and inner lives.

Wow! You are clearly not only talented and committed to investing time and energy into your painting craft. Perhaps you had an artist guide who encouraged this, found it within yourself, or simply were compelled to paint. Whatever, I am in awe as I near 60 and an now returning to art after years of frustration following other paths. You are mature and thought for in your artist statements, something I would have struggled with had I been required to submit a portfolio to a state university art school. I know you will do well and enjoy your experience wherever you choose to attend.

I would never apply to 5 schools. Apply to the one you want, with maybe one other as an alternate.

hi! i was wondering if each art piece has to have some sort of meaning/story behind it? I was thinking of designing 3 movie posters cuz i htought it would be a cool idea but also to demonstrate my skill is adobe plus that i can redesign things, but now im not so sure

Not all of your portfolio works need to have some meaningful story/message! I think most art schools are interested in seeing a wide range of abilities both conceptually and technically. So if you’d like to submit some works that purely demonstrate a specific technical skill that’s great :) the movie poster idea sounds cool!

Congrats. FYI - I'm a former scad grad and they accepted me without a major and without a portfolio. they will accept anyone willing to pay.

Yep! Some schools don’t require a portfolio at all. But I’ve found that submitting a portfolio (especially for SCAD) can help grant scholarships and such :)
