Access Bambu Lab printer SD Card over Network.

Did you know you can access your files over your network without Bambu Studio? With a simple FTP program you gain access to the SD card in the printer. This is extra helpful for P1 and A1 Series printers that do not allow direct access to time-lapses. You can also see your videos and .3mf files. This should work on all current Bambu lab printers.

Thank you this is very helpful. I use Cura for the vase mode, since the vase mode is still broken in Bambu Studio even with smooth spiral turned on. So I have to transfer the gcode every time and this makes it much easier.

Hello, excellent question.. Yes you can manage multiple devices or ftp items with tabs. I would label the printers in in the site manager the open a new tab. Filezilla file, new tab WinSCP there are new tab shorcuts. Just pop a new tab and open the printer of choice and manage them like any modern web browser.

Just got a P1S and was a bit annoyed by the lack of network access to the SD card models or timelapses. This totally fixed it. I do use WinSCP instead of FileZilla, but it works just as well and your video gave the information required to get it working. Now ... I would advise anyone NOT to perform such access while the printer is printing. Having tries my hand at programming the ESP32 (and ESP8266) I feel it is somewhat underpowered for a printer like the P1S / P1P, but somehow Bambu Lab pulled it off. Having it do heavy network stuff like transferring big files while also having to do time-critical stuff for the actual print, might however be a bit too much for the ESP32. If people have tried and can confirm or counter my gut feeling, please do comment ...

Glad this was helpful. I would lean towards don't mess with the SD card while it's printing as well. I don't have a P1 series printer but I would assume anything that accesses that memory card while its doing other things like recording or printing and trying to pull off or delete files would probably overwhelm something.

Hello. I assume you are using either filezilla or winscp the settings are ip: use ip of printer username: bblp (lower case) password: user access code (also case sensitive port 990 require implicit encryption You may get a prompt to accept certificates, allow or say yes. Most ftp programs should work fine. If you are using a mac the built in FTP program just doesn't work I tied a bunch of my tricks and it will not connect at all. but filezilla can work on mac computers.

I think some folks like "winscp" over filezilla for the P1 series. I only have an X1C and both programs worked well. So ymmv.

I am having a hard time finding the access code from my A1 printer. All I see from the WiFi screen is the IP and MAC address, no access code.

Excellent news. Which printer are you using for the transfer. 200KB/s is a little on the slow side for an X1C.

Thanks for commenting. You can delete most things in those folders. I personally leave *system volume information* folder alone It should be safe to delete anything in timelapse cache or ipcam folders. But do not delete the folders themselves. To be on the safe side I would not delete anything while printing though. For instance timelapse makes a "temp.video" when printing a timelapse.,

The cam and time-lapse files are in AVI files. Anyway I can natively access them as mp4 files instead? Can't seem to open AVI files and don't want to bother transferring the files through a third party. Also, they are not downloading on my desktop for some reason.

Are you running windows or Mac? On windows go to the ninite site and download install /k lite codec or vlc player. It should play nearly every type of video file on media player or media player classic. For Mac there is a codec pack that makes quick time work with most video files too.

@@Hmjals Sorry about the late response but you message was stuck in limbo. VLC and media player classic should be able to play those files. Double check the file size and make sure it looks correct. SOmetimes a broke transfer will not have the correct file size so compare the 2 sides. (printer and PC)

Yes you can. slice, save then send it over FTP to the printer. You can leave files outside of the folders in the main directory. From there you can walk up to the printer and print from the screen. Since you are only sending over the gcode/3mf file it wont print until you do it manually.

Im receiving an access denied. I obtained the IP address from the unit, I'm using my username that I use to login to Bambu labs, I'm using the access code, on the unit, No special characters in my username. I'm being actively denied. Using WinSCP client Implcit connection. Would you reproduce success with this client when you get a chance? Im at a lost.

I would do this but my SD reader on my X1 Carbon is defective and has wrecked 2 cards already. Bambu is replacing printer which I will be receiving my 2nd replacement printer because 1st replacement arrived with broken glass.

That's interesting. Shipping issues are unfortunately impossible to fix if the delivery company is careless with the product. I wonder why they would send a whole printer for an SD card issue. The screen handles the card and that is a simple 1 min tool-less swap. In any event when you get your machine the steps above work fine.

Thanks for the video, I have been wanting to do this for the longest. I have a Mac and I get the critical error: can not connect to server....any ideas? if not I will play with it some more to see if I can get a connections. Great video again!

Thank you for the comment. Which version of macos are you using and which ftp client are you using? So i'll get the good out of the way first. If you get filezilla from their (.org) website, the steps shown should work. See top description for link. I have tried it on macos 13.6(Ventura) and it works fine. If you are using "finder" "go to server" to connect it does not work or at least hasn't worked for me.

Haven't updated my iMac to Sonoma(not even sure if it can take it) Settings are Host: Ip address of the printer Require Implicit encryption (port left blank but it is 990) Username: bblp (all lowercase bravo, bravo, lima, papa) password: access code And this is all assuming you are on the same network as the printer and you dont have anything like wireless isolation enabled. (guest networks typically have that and it blocks devices from interacting with each other on a network.) You can check the default firewall settings in system settings to see if filezilla is blocked. I'll check if other FTP programs work as well.

If you are using filezilla, Protocol : FTP Host: IP of the printer Encryption: Require *IMPLICIT* ftp over TLS Port can be left blank but it's :990 logon type: Normal user bblp (bravo bravo lima papa) password: passcode found on your printer. You can also try refreshing the code for a new on. Pay attention to case sensitivity Other than that are you using P1, X1 or A1 series printer? What OS (windows/mac) and which FTP program?
