Charles Liu is a professor of astrophysics at the City University of New York’s College of Staten Island, and an associate with the Hayden Planetarium and Department of Astrophysics at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. He received the 2001 American Institute of Physics Science Writing Award for his book One Universe: At Home In The Cosmos, and is a profound inquiry-based educator. More recently, he is the author of The Handy Astronomy Answer Book (2008, Visible Ink Press). He and his wife, who is way smarter than he is, have three children.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
