He cheated multiple times and then cried about having a sex addiction. She stayed with him, had another baby. He was exposed as sexually assaulting 4 or 5 young girls as a teenager, including 3 of his sisters. She stayed with him, and had another baby. Then the FBI raided his car dealership. They found thousands of pictures and whatnot of child pornography. He was band from being around the children, for good reason, but she chose to drop the kids with the grandparents and stay with him. He was then convicted as a child predator and sent to prison for not nearly long enough, in my opinion. This "Stand by your man/master" ideal is so finely ingrained into the girls of this "Holy, God abiding Cult" that they can get away with anything and the women just have to stay them anyway or be ostracized. They (women) are taught to look within themselves to figure out what they did wrong to cause their husbands to do such horrible things. Hope that helps.

Then when she decided to stay in school to become a midwife, her mother was NOT happy about it. Oh I’m so sorry you had to go through this. I was 10 yrs in with my ex husband when I found out he was living the same type of double life. He traveled for work so I trusted he was where he said he was and doing what he said he was doing. There was a lot of mental abuse that I didn’t even realize that’s what it was until I went and got help for how traumatizing it all was. Fast forward 8 years and my life and my children’s life is so beautiful now. Where his poor life choices has seemed to catch up with him. Karma is real, sometimes swift other times takes its time. It all comes back around in the end.

It really makes me happy that she recognizes that it’s ok for Anna to leave Josh, especially under these circumstances. The way she grew up, and I grew up in a conservative Christian household as well, divorce was never an option no matter what. It was a sin. I’m so proud of Jill for setting her own boundaries and being her own person, not being influenced by her parents and siblings

Yes, the Bible clearly states that divorce is ok if sexual infidelity takes place. I think Anna is so overwhelmed and I don’t recall her having a strong personality. She probably is full of self doubt and possibly questioning what she could have done differently to have prevented this (which is nothing of course). Having worked through self doubt and a script that I wasn’t important in therapy I can see how a person could be this confused. I think her script is most likely that she’s ‘inadequate’ or ‘not enough’. It makes sense that a woman with this internal script would stay after being cheated on. However, what he got caught with in the end?! I bet he’s manipulated her into thinking he was framed or something. I could be wrong, these are just my speculations.

Sending love to Jill! So compassionate. What a good heart. Wish Anna would wake up before she loses her kids over her choice. He's a danger to minors, and that includes his and her children. The kids deserve better and her choice speaks volumes to stay with him. It's clearly not for the kids. It's usually because the woman is afraid to be on her own, but she could keep the house and get child support, and theres plenty of family to help with the kids. There will be consequences for poor choices. I've seen a mother lose her kids from choosing the father over her children. She needs to think on that. Better they have their mother than living in fostercare because mom couldn't live without dad! My kids always came first, so I do not understand why a mother would put anyone else, including the dad, before her kids. It's not like she can't survive happliy without him.

Can anyone imagine how disappointed she must be? Poor thing. Im proud of Jill. She is so mature, so beautiful and well thought out about her feelings and others’. This is such a complicated situation. I hope that she will talk when she is ready. This cannot be easy for these sisters, and their sister in law who undoubtedly has conflicted feelings. I wouldn’t want to be in this situation. All I can offer is my prayers, that they navigate these times together. God will get them through it.

But she does “have some idea” why. She knows their entire way of life from childhood teaches that marriage is forever. That’s what she’s clinging to. She feels she’s being virtuous & faithful to her beliefs as well as to her vows. I can imagine her father is urging her to stick by his side, too. He seems very naiive & overly committed to their religious practices, too. They see the urgings to divorce Josh as “evil from the world” or as “taking the easy way out”. Also, maybe she’s just enjoying his absence anyway & wants time alone to process her eventual move.

The problem i see is that, if you guys stay away from Anna and her kids and she from some of you then ALL will be missing on the love and bonding needed to stay connected, attached and loved. Kids need to be in contact one way or another with their family or they will grow up not learning to love you back. I feel sorry for Anna. She was brought into this marriage under false pretenses. Now she has 7 children to raise with a husband in jail & no monetary support. Jill is a BEAST in the best way. I love that she has left IBLP and respected Anna's privacy. I hate that her husband is still a bigot, but hopefully the amount of truth they've sought will help him to accept that he's wrong on a million levels on transgender issues. We can only hope.
