I agree 100%. Especially scarfs around the neck. I never liked them. But on the other hand as you said tide on a hand bag or on a belt..can look very chic.

I would definitely like to watch a video of how to wear a scarf, the kind of scarf, and how to style it to our particular proportions. I really enjoy your content. Thank you.😊

I have ALL kinds of scarves in different length width shape material colors and prints. 5 years ago I realized that I couldn’t wear them due to hot flushes. Also, my neck is short and face is round, drawing attention to these 2 parts isn’t wise. I do use bandanna size square scarves to wrap around handbag handles or straps. I don’t use scarves as belts because my waist line isn’t tiny thus not wanting attention.

As a woman nearing 70, I rejoice that I can wear "mature" styles and look chic doing it. "Cute" hasn't been me for 45 years. I'm a Soft Dramatic Kibbe type who dressed in that style decades before I knew there was a Kibbe. I probably dressed "mature" for my age when I was 28, but nobody will think twice about it now.
@NadaManley2 жыл бұрын
If you are comfortable and confident in your style, that is all that counts. Cute. Is just a word that I use to describe a flattering and contemporary and fresh look. It has nothing to do with being a little girlish. That said, I think there’s a difference between looking mature and sophisticated and looking mature and dated, which is what I’m referring to here.

Silk scarves are some of my favorite accessories, in style or not, I wear them if I think they add to a simple outfit. I also love good leather belts and bags, and up-to-the-minute shoes, even chunkies! I agree about “comfort shoe” brands, they are usually awful, and not necessarily comfortable, like those Naturalizers with their sweaty, plastic linings. The older I get, the better I get at choosing comfortable wearable shoes from the regular styles. I think most fabric bags are tough to wear.

How can you hide your belly while wearing a maxi skirt and tucking the shirt brings the eye to the problem area?
@NadaManley Жыл бұрын
Quick question! I’ve done a couple of videos about this. First considered tucking the shirt in on the sides and not the front.. it will create an arc in front of your stomach that minimizes it, and it will still define your waist. Another idea is to find a shirt that hits you at the spot at the lower belly or high hip. It will cover your belly, but will be a good length to wear untucked. I hope that helps!

a year ago I started expanding my sneaker collection for summer - great tip about pant length! It never occurred to me that's why the outfits aren't working. Will be adding that to my style toolbox!! There's several trends I'm not liking right now i.e. multi layered necklaces, fluffy scarves, large link chain in jewelry, neon colors, boxy cut apparel . I'm short waisted, short necked, DD plus size petite so.. yeah. Several things on trend Ive already purged from my closet when they went out of style. What I love most about accessories - so easy and cost effective to switch out. I only wear glasses, I enjoy keeping up with color and shape trends but struggle with earrings that work well with that. I stick to 1-2" hoop family styles and interested in what you have to say about style combos that work. I've gone grey in my late 40's and pretty much rocking it but had to train my eye to be more celebratory about how I use color on or near my face. Accessories are my immediate go to. thanks for all the content you are providing and community you steward. Its a great support!
@NadaManley3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the comment Lisa! It means so much to me. I am so glad you find this helpful! That's a great question about earrings with glasses. As a general rule, with statement glasses go more subtle with the earrings, and vice versa, but that's really a personal style thing too. You might also want to look at the shape of your face and the size of your head. An oval face can generally wear more accessories around it without looking unbalanced, and a bigger head is less easily overwhelmed than a smaller one. It's all about balance! If you love the look and feel confident in it, go for it! I will do a video on style combos with glasses, earrings, etc. I think that's a great idea!

I have a myriad of foot troubles and am very limited in what I can wear. I figure that a comfort shoe always looks better on me than pain on my face! I have a couple of slightly chunky sandals with no heel strap for the summer, and some clogs for the winter, but would love your take on more options. I buy cheap but fun readers where ever I can find them. I have colors that work on me. I wind up carrying them all around the house, losing them when we are out, sitting on them, etc. I am better off with cheapos and I think I do ok with them. Earrings. What can I say? I need 14k gold, and who can afford that anymore! I stick with my classic hoops. I have a few pair of less expensive fun earrings that I do wear from time to time, but only for a few hours. Heavy ones give me headaches. For other jewelry, I don't wear it often. I have a very few bracelets, that get caught on things like computer keyboards, sewing and knitting machines, etc. I like my little stretchy magnetic bracelets. Although I don't think they do much for my pain, I like the look. Except when cheap silverware in restaurants stick to it and it looks like I am trying to steal it!! Bags are a big nuisance. With bad shoulders, I much prefer - gasp - a fanny pack! I KNOW - the worse fashion don't since the 1980s! I like fun colors that work for me in rather sleek designs. I figure if I am going to wear something so out of it, I might as well wear a bright orange on that looks good with my clothes and sends the right message. Such as "yeah, I know this is out of style, but it feels good, so the heck with what fashion says!!" Sometimes, I prefer spitting in the eye of fashion and doing what works for me. I know that I am a rebel at heart - descended from the brother of a well-known rebel in Scotland in the early 1300s, from rebels that left England in 1620 so they could live the way they wanted to, from British rebels in 1776, etc. It's almost sad that all I have to rebel against is fashion!! I am finding all this interesting and challenging. Thank you!!
@NadaManley3 жыл бұрын
I am so glad that you find it interesting and challenging! And I LOVE that you come from a long line of rebels! It's important to discover what works for you and stay true to that while trying new things as they seem relevant or interesting. :) I do have lots of thoughts on shoes, as you know! I have some of my faves right here! hueandstripe.com/catalog/306H&SafF5

how do you dress "practical" and still look good? i can't wear accessories (due to metal allergies and skin condition), have to be comfortable/relaxed but still want to look nice/attractive. (simplistic attractive casual?- how do you pull that off)
@NadaManley Жыл бұрын
Hi Frances! Great questions! I don't know the details of your skin condition, but there are many jewelry lines now designed for those with metal allergies. If jewelry of any kind is not an option, consider clothes that are comfortable but also interesting, with cool silhouettes or details that make jewelry unnecessary. You might also consider comfortable accessories like scarves and silk/crochet necklaces. Finally, if you want to keep your wardrobe really practical, consider building a wardrobe of cute but practical pieces that are comfortable for your everyday life, and use hats, scarves, shoes, and bags to make them more interesting. I hope that helps! I might have to do a video on this!

Well it depends on the womans face, body and over all style etc IMO. I had my haor super short when I retired living on a saiñboat in the Caribbean..it was a safety issue....there was a famous freak accident of a scalped female racing sailor...she died. Yikes. I chooped my hair to max 3 inches for mpre than a decade. Then I let it grow back when I moved off a boat. I got alot of compliments from those who knew me and realized longer hair, just "fit" me . I dont do chunky shoes either.
