Agreed to all except the point about feminism... Men and women are different in physical sense.. But feminism is not that... Feminism is getting the space in the world for all women same as men... Not only on jobs, also in freedom of choices.. To get that freedom of choices, independency is required... For the independency, not everyone has the luxury of getting understanding partner always.... Doing things alone is not masculine, it is called being independent... Feminism is about equal rights, not being able to do what a man does...

This entire notion that feminism forced women to chase masculinity n that being ambitious, chasing one's dreams, going out and working and wanting bigger things in life is a masculine trait is the very notion that patriarchy is centred around. This way of putting it across just sounds more sugar-coated and enticing to women. Yes, women are different biologically and deserve to choose what they want for themselves, but to suggest that socially constructed gender roles for men take away a woman's femininity sounds really foolish, problematic and ill-informed.

Exactly..this would make it more difficult for women who are already in chaos .Also, men who are yet to completely understand what women ask for in terms of equal rights n responbilities would go few steps backwards.

Whatever she said can make the homemakers who left their career feel better...but can confuse the ambitious women who would like to carry their career and family alike(or just career for that matter, and be independent..and their partners can definitely contribute by sharing the responsibilities.. I am a doctor myself and cannot agree with these 'Feminine' to 'masculine' theory she says..of course..women must be in a position such that they can choose what they really want to do at any point of time..and there comes equal rights and equal opportunities.. i dont understand the point of 'running towards masculinity' and 'surrendering to ur feminine..' Also why should u be 'masculine' to work and earn? Really??! And men dont know to deal with 'hyperindependent' women(dont know independence can be hypo and hyper)? They must grow up ,i say !

I am no expert, but I need to debunk a couple of things. As someone who is struggling with mental health issues, the mind-body corelation is not something you can ignore. You need to listen to both your mind and body. Priortising mental health often leads to better physical health according to my therapist. Second, as a literature/history student, I can confidently say that feminist movements did not emerge from or revolve around the need to be masculine/man. Feminist movements emerged in the late 19th century. But feminist writings have been around for ages, even as early as the 16th century, and those writings do not advocate for the need to becoming masculine, but rather strongly advocate equal rights and opportunities. I would request her to get her facts right before spewing her opinions out loud.

Completely agree! Well, she has spoken about an aspect of psychology which deals with feminine and masculine energies. That's an interesting read but what irritates me.is when they shun the feminist movement as per their convenience! Stepping out of home to work is a human right and I beleive that a person in their feminine energy can also do it and should if they loves to work.

@marisamathew8483 thank you for saying this .As a psychiatrist I get worried when lot newagi opinions are thrown around. There is no mind body dichotomy.Even if one accepts for debate sake how will you listen to your body , by what means? We only have our mind . Secondly ,yes pregnancy can be traumatising but to pathologise everything in life will, take our agency over ourselves.we dont need therapy for every life event. Infact thats why we have co-ing skills and strategies, being prepared rather in life. C section or delivery may not be a pleasant event certainly , I agree. But to generalise will mot help either. Women’s suffering resulted in suffragette movement and feministic views. There may be varied expressions or interpretations but one cannot ignore the positive effect of Feministic movement.

Is Swati suggesting that men are so shallow n egoistic that women need to pretend to be weak to make them feel better about themselves n give them a purpose in life? We owe them more credit than that. There are so many men out there who recognize this as a problem and ade trying to work on improving relationships and interactions with women. Instead of asking women to surrender to their "yin" energy to make men feel more comfortable, why not ask men to find a newer purpose in life than merely making babies n providing for the wife n kids. Why not widen the scope of their purpose in life, their existence n even their relationships with women?

To be not an independent working woman ( in this economy lol) is a "choice" only privileged will have. It's easy to say don't work if you don't have to. But there are people who have no choice but to work to have their dream life.

Exactly my thoughts! In fact they are more privileged than working women.. They can cherish all their time with the family... Can serve the family happily... Can lead a balanced life seeing their children growing...things are beautiful if they have a supporting partner who will provide for her needs. But for a working women it's hard to maintain the worklife balance. But we will definitely make all our dreams come true one day❤

I dont understand how can we always listen to what our body says..for instance my body feels to sit at home and look after my children. I dont do any other profession. But what would i do if my partner expires? How can i get into a profession with such a long gap to look after my children? I think women who have privileges such as financial backup from partner, very good support from family, etc can follow swathy's thoughts. Other families who struggle financially can not always sit at home as their body wishes, i think. And what about men, many men like to have less work pressure, but they pursue it thinking about family's financial stability right.

I am a subscriber and regular viewer of this channel. I have a suggestion. It would be best to not call in doctors, psychologists, and other professionals to the show because it often leads to their perspectives being highlighted dring the chat. I am okay with professionals talking about their perspectives, like in this video where she talks about her views on masculine-feminine or in the one with Dr. Philip John where he talks about parenting styles, but it tends to remain one sided. Often there are multiple perspectives regarding certain issues especially mental health, body postivity, and other current cultural points of debate. And such points when brought on a show like yours, in my opinion needs to be rounded, so that the viewers can get a good understanding of various perspectives. One sided opinions on such matters most often do not benfit a discerning viewer. So I would suggest you bring in a panel of similar people when discussing such issues. For example I loved your panel on mental health done last year with Rose Mary and others. When it comes to celebrity chats I totally appreciate the way you candidly handle the talk, often opening up a different side of their personality, their thought processes etc. For example, when Mithun talked about his perspective on phone usage among children, his style of parenting etc, it is possible to leave it at that and not take it seriously. But in case of professionals I would request you to either bring in a panel to discuss the issues being raised, or just stick to talking about their personal lives etc. Hope suggestions are appreciated!😊

I feel she is talking about the inner feeling of every person . If a woman wants to remain famine - autonomously - , as per the current society conditions , people may consider her as a weak being and she will be forced to become independent by all means. But they may not be able to enjoy the moments of life because that's not what they really want. So I think her point is that any woman can remain famine if they really want to be. But i don't think every man will have that feeling of confusion. There are many guys out there who love to share their responsibilities and to see their partner remain independent. Being a man I personally like to see my partner as an independent individual and I am ready to do give all support to empower her when required. So it's all personal.

i love this questions by you and insigts/responses provided by Swati. As a woman, i agree a 100% that "modern feminism" has become about "being a man" or tapping into a "masc" part of ourselves ONLY, without collabing with the body (somatic) - perhaps its because we dont have much female role-models that did the same, especially in the leadership roles. One that leads with her heart/body, like how female naturally is.. ofc, with boundaries of not treating people as "children" which can be problematic too IMO. As a result, "progressive feminism" has now become a game of "Egos", not complimenting each other, but competing/battle of the sexes (like the movie Barbie). This is disgusting and weak - when one has to abandon oneself to be "strong" or "cool" or i want to do whatever the male does because that's supposedly "worthy". In that context, its very necessary to stop and think for a minute "what do i want? what is my mind and body telling me? If so, how do i do justice to both these parts?"

I only intended to watch a bit of it, but before I knew it, I had watched the entire interview in one sitting! 🙌 I'm not fully on board with the feminism aspect though. Dhanya, I really appreciate you bringing Swati. And big thanks for maintaining the high quality of this show. Appreciate it! ❤

Loved it, how gracefully she's talking about feminine energy ♥️✨️ Something very much to be addressed in this era where women tend to forget the elegance & beauty of being women. It's necessary to be independent & feel confident about oneself, but there's this unnecessary competitiveness instilled in the minds of women seeking the approval of society being equal to men!! Exactly why making friends with boys was a big deal, but the girls' gang were confined to gossip groups, beginning from school!!🤷‍♀️ We know a person's identity is defined by job these days.. but wasn't it all about being a good human?! Also, I truly loved the session with Maya's Amma♥️ Thank you😊
