Accident between saddleBag and Road !! Preparing for a road trip

Going over the bike at my local shop to make sure everything is ready for the road trip. All oils are changed , all bolts are tighten and bike is completely inspected for the trip. I also changed my oil filter for better flow and filtration.

A lot of guys on the forums run a zip tie around that red tab to prevent it from popping up. Haven’t had an issue knock on wood so far but I don’t take them on and off.

How unfortunate! Sorry about your bag. It's a known issue with that model. My wife rides the same bike and we run a zip tie around the red handle because we have heard lots of stories from other ST riders about their bags coming off.

Hi sandy , my friends tell me to lock the bags with the key that will stop the mechanism from rattling its way up to fall off . I own a sportglide and I always lock my bags with the key and had no problem, good luck, cheers 🍻

So if it plugs up you get no oil? Iv been told the micron rating is horrible on reusable filters. Race bikes get oil and filter changed every race and new motors I don't know how many times.

They sell sleeves that go over the red lever on inside of your saddle bag so it can’t slide up. I’ve seen that a couple times on Facebook low rider st page.

Hey man I’m riding my 2020 Electra Glide in McKinney Texas, it had 2200 miles on it when I bought so I’m riding every chance I get, the upgrades you do on these can/will exceed other touring bikes in my opinion minus the engine size

I had the same failure two weeks after buying the Harley. Fortunately, it was replaced under warranty. it turned out that the mounting on the swing arm was attached to the frame crookedly.

When you picked the bag up, the red tab was up. Quite possibly you didn’t lock the tab on the inside in place properly, so as you rode it just worked itself loose. The easiest solution is to zip tie the red tab down or use an elastic band. Always check the red tabs before riding. You aren’t the only one this has happened to and sadly the response is user error.

Yup, I did notice that RED tab was up when he picked up the bad, not sure if it spun up while falling to the ground, but more than likely he forgot to lock the red lever down

It happened to me too. I ended up slotting the hole in the bag and adjusting the bracket on the bike to make the brackets attached more securely. It was Terrible day for my wallet though.

Maybe someone at Harley might notice this now and do something about it. I've seen so many people post that the saddlebag issue has happened to them since these bikes came out. Luckily it hasn't happened to mine yet, but I've kept zip ties around the locking mechanism since I've bought it (which I shouldn't have to do).

I had my right bag come off at 75 mph on I90 E. of Buffalo on my way home from Lake George. I think the mechanic didn’t tighten my saddlebag screw mounts.

I’m in Australia bought bike and 2nd ride same side fell off its in painters getting re painted atm I blew out when see the thumbnail showing bag had fell off same side and I’ve got same exhaust

I think it's the mounting bracket of the exhaust - that isn't fit 100% right. Locking the inside lock is always a strugle ! It wasnt like that before I installed the exhaust !

@@HOLYSHIFT I bought same exhaust Bassani 2-1 so I could get the bigger bags same as your bike just black and we fitted exhaust and next ride it fell off I moved locator to outside of frame to try fix it been good so far seen others have same issue tho and there cable ties seem to be the solution

you can see it in the video coming loose, you never had the forward bracket engaged. It will still lock but will come loose. Operator error, sorry.

Bummer about your bag Sandy, Iam sorry, but like you said, you didnt get hurt and some Holy Shiftt stickers will fix it. I got "We did this" Biden and Kamala pointing stickers, I'd be happy to send ya for your bag. I used one on my other bikes bag when I dropped mine. Oil filter is interesting, but I bought 20 K&N's when a vendor on Amazon listed them for $4.95 each. I think it was a mistake. I'll take a ride to Mikes shop soon to talk to him about a cam swap, he sure went above and beyond to help with your bag...... Safe travels on your trip!!!

It happened because you are always taking them off and on in your videos, unless you are washing the bike, why take them off. If it secured correctly, they don’t come off.
