I ventured out to the creek again to follow on from where i left off the last time i was still getting gold and had to leave . So later in the day i heard some noises down stream and went to check it out , There was another prospector turned up , and that was fine , so we talked a bit for a while , and then i left him be . But later in the day he was heading up to where i was in the creek when disaster struck . So , in this video i'll tell you how things turned out , to the best of my knowledge . Cheers Ned .

G'day Garrett , thanks mate , yes i was very upset and really disappointed for the old fella , considering he hadn't long arrived and it was a bad way to end his prospecting trip . I still don't know if he went home or stayed on , i was glad that i was there at least to help him up out of the crevice that he fell into otherwise he may have laid there on his back for days and no one would have found him . It certainly can be a dangerous hobby , and that's why i carry a rescue beacon just in case . Anyway thanks for watching and commenting mate . Cheers Ned . 👍✌

G'day Jason , yes mate , so do i . it certainly can be disastrous if you fall as he did and my greatest fears were if he'd broken an arm or leg what do you do in those cicumstances , i'm no Doctor and we are miles from any hospitals , so at least i had my rescue beacon with me , but this time i didn't need to use it thankfully . I just hope he come good and stuck around and got some gold . he was a fit tough old bugger , lol . Thanks for watching mate , take care . Cheers Nev . 👍✌

Thanks Mark , i'm sure you would have done the same thing in that situation , it is instinctive to help an injured person no matter , come what may . I felt so bad that it was very upsetting for him apart from his injuries i think he actually came to a realization that maybe his lone prospecting days might be coming to an end . Sad really sad mate . Anyway , stay safe and be very careful around the rocks Buddy . Cheers Ned . 👍✌

Thankyou Peter for your kind words mate . I too feel confident when out prospecting in the creek , but many times i have fallen probably 3 times pretty hard but no serious injuries , thankfully , and multiple little stumbles and slips that catch you unawares , and that's what makes it dangerous when you're out there alone . I try not to think about it too much and just get about my business for the day . But this time it sort of hammered it home a bit just how vulnerable you really are out there when you're alone . I think Graham was fortunate that at least someone was there to help him . Anyway , stay safe my friend , and thanks for watching . Cheers Ned . 👍✌

You’re a 💎 Ned! I had to laugh a bit because I say the same thing.. there’s some Old Guy? 😂 As I get older and see a older man, I think.. he’s a old dude. Then I see my reflection in a mirror or window and see a “Old Crusty Man” 😳 At 65 I’m not sure if I will be alive at 77 let alone tromping up the river. This guy is a “Gold Warrior” being out and about up the river at 77. You did good my friend.. you got some beautiful shiny and a special blessing helping this Old AU Warrior! Thanks sir enjoyed.. yep that’s Super Golden! Peace Prospector Tripp

G'day Matt , yeah , it's funny alright ,lol , anyone older than me is an old bloke , but you are correct , he was a tough old bugger for sure , an AU Warrior indeed , and anyone who can even be alive at that age demands respect , let alone prospecting out in a creek alone . I have a little ritual i perform before i commence the day out there , i'm sure you know what i mean 🙏, and it's interesting to note i have only ever been prospecting on that day of the week twice in my life , so if i had not been there i shudder to think what could have happened to him if there was no one around to assist . It makes you realize just how vulnerable we really are when out in the bush alone . Among other things i am always concerned about snake bite , because in that case i don't think you make it out alive . Anyway , take care , Cheers Matt . Nev out . 👍✌

Liked, shared and commenting. Although I could have seen the positive, I found that a very sad story. That may well have been that old feller’s end of his prospecting career. He (or his loved ones) may have decided “that’s it!” No more prospecting. N that’s sad. I assume we’ll all give it up someday. But what catalyst will make that occur in each of our lives. 77 n trying to open rocks with the side of his head. Absoflippinlutely, might end ones prospecting forever. 😢 Glad he made it out alive. But he obviously loved prospecting. Marching up n down a rocky rolly krik at 77. I didn’t have to meet the guy to know he loved it.😢 Great video n tyvm 4 being a good man n assisting the ole’ fella.🍻🗽🤴🏻cobbles 21:42

I do believe he possibly goes prospecting for peace of mind , it really is a great feeling when your out there but it is definitely dangerous . I suppose we will all have to come to the reality that the day will come when it's time to hang up the pan for good . Thanks for watching mate it is appreciated . Cheers Ned . 👍✌

@@GrooberNedJardine I don’t have much gold here (I don’t think). But I just stay home n work what I got. I’m mid 50s but I started doing all the bad things about 8 yrs old. The cigarettes n pot n in young teens I was drinking too. By the time I was a young adult all were addictions. So I lived fast n hard life especially with the cigarettes. So I’m not apt to reach that age. But by staying home to prospect. I’ll b able to do it longer than I would if I traveled to unfamiliar places n placed myself where I wasn’t as safe n used to being. Like cliffs, mountains, rocky kriks or waterfalls ect. I can go a football field away n get a cooler or wheelbarrow full of dirt n have plenty to work for a long time the way I prospect. Then I can work in my own driveway or barns or porch and house. Now something can happen right here anytime . But it’s familiar. I know every rock n hole on this 19 acres. It’s familiar n doesn’t change unless I change it. That gives me stability. I know what I’m stepping on. I know who I’ll run into for the most part. I’m at ease here. I’m not in some slot canyon that can flood. I’m not on a mountain to slip off of. I’m not out where I could run into an undesired person intending someone harm. I’m not in some old mine that could collapse or cave in. I’m not even out where I can crash a car or have car trouble n freeze to death. I’m home semi safe n sound. That’s my life n I love it. That ole fella, or u, or Wayne ect. Might not have that. Or may not b satisfied with that. Maybe there’s a need or urge to travel. Or get away. I don’t have that. I’m super happy panning on the porch or washing con’s in my bed lol. But I really do feel bad when things happen like what happened to the ole’ feller. Makes me wonder if he had to travel to prospect. N if it’s over now because of an accident. Life is finite. We all know it. But sometimes we see or read or experience something to remind us. 🍻🗽🤴🏻cobbles buddy. N I hope u get some great karma or whatever for being there that day n time so an old guy can go home n think about prospecting again.🍺

@@josephknowlton7246 You are fortunate Joseph to have a property like that , i looked many years ago to purchase an old mine and property but let it slip through my fingers and regret it very much these days . Now those ambitions are out of reach for me , so i do love prospecting and if i could find anything closer to home that i could work i would , but unfortunately i cannot , so i must drive a long way to prospect and the older i get the more it wears thin on me i am losing my enthusiasm and when that day finally comes it will be a sad day for me also . So Buddy you are very fortunate indeed to have a hobby on your own land , i am envious , lol . And as for the younger years of abusing our bodies , i can tell you , i have been there and done that sort of thing too , so in that regard , is the prospecting really so dangerous , lol , ? well perhaps that's just a matter of opinion , we did more dangerous things when we were young i guess . I took Emergency medical technician training years ago while working at a mine that was a bit remote. They paid for it. Gives me a bit of an advantage at times. Good thing. Eva has had to check my pupils a time or two also, but for possible stroke (had one years ago). Yep, wondering what you should have/could have can be bad. Luckily (for me) the two SERIOUS times I had to use my knowledge any errors were inconsequential as both patients were fatally injured. Both were sad things, but not heart breaking.
