Basia! That's a lot of brass! I can't wait to see where your creativity takes you with it. The light you have is fantastic! I love how it is also remote controlled! I love using Ottlite when I'm crafting. I started using them when I did hand stitching and needed brighter concentrated light in the evenings. Keep the videos coming. I always look forward to watching. ❤😊

Thank you so much sweetheart, I appreciate it a lot! 🥰 So happy you enjoy my videos ❤️ I'm going to practice with brass and will see what can be made with it 😀 I'm thinking maybe some bolder, larger pieces, or something geometric even. Good light is so important, it's something I underestimated for a very long time, but it makes a massive difference 😲

Look at it this way. You have so much extra brass that you can use it to practice new designs without feeling as guilty as you would by using silver if the designs don’t work out. I just want to let you know that due to your kind words in a past video I have put my grown woman pants on and posted an Instagram reel and a KZbin video. They’re not the best but I’m doing what is comfortable for me at the moment and they’ll get better the more I do them (I assume). So thank you for the courage I needed.
@TheArtOfMetalsmithing2 жыл бұрын
Haha, that's so true! 😁 I'm sure it won't be wasted, I won't have to shop for more brass in the near future, so I guess that's also a perk! 😀 I'm very happy to hear about your reel and video! Good for you, so glad you took that step and decided to give it a go. That's what matters the most - trying different things. Even if something doesn't work out, at least you know you tried and learned something new. But it can work out great and give you new possibilities, so keep going! Good luck ❤️

Hiya Pixie, Lovely comment, I'm a disabled gentleman suffering from galloping arthritis in all my finger joints plus knees and elbows, and shoulders and, and... lol. I struggle to make with the pain and mobility, and worse depression! Watching Basia helps a lot with that and I'm slowly sorting the tons of things I purchased with the money I got from my dad's will. I've got a few orders for little bits I'm giving to the young ladys' who serve in my local pub. Cheap advertising. Stirling earrings with coloured czs' mostly. Yes, dreams can come true, a lot of faith in yourself and belief in your future help. Stay safe, Steve...

I’d love a video showing what you do with silver reclaim (e.g. filings, offcuts etc.). Bad luck with the brass order, but sometimes the best things come from mistakes like that!
@TheArtOfMetalsmithing2 жыл бұрын
For now I haven't been doing anything exciting with it actually 😁 I use little sheet pieces inside of bezels to elevate the stone, when it's not transparent. I also melt small pieces into balls. Anything else is gathered together and sold as scrap to suppliers, who recycle it. I hope to be able to melt it myself sometime in the future, after I get proper tools for it and my own space 😀
@natmickan2 жыл бұрын
@@TheArtOfMetalsmithing haha, I think you forget it’s all exciting to us! Maybe you can bring us along next time you go to sell your scrap? I’m so curious - do you take it to the same place each time, or do you shop around to see who’s paying the best price (does it even work like that?)? And do you take everything from filings to pieces? I’ve always just hung onto my scrap because I never knew what to do with it if I wasn’t remelting it (and I don’t have those facilities right now). I saw Estona’s spinner ring tutorial and she did something awesome with her filing reclaims (I’ll probably try that on one of my next projects) Speaking of mistakes buying metal, I’ve got a piece of 1.3mm SS sheet because I made a mistake with the gauge, and I never quite figured out what to do with it :S Must be a rite of passage to get the wrong size at some point ;)

Not all the works of art that are out of stock, not the 'Made for' ..., but the other pieces, are you going to make new versions and therefore fill out your shop again. I would love to see more choices, the dimmed photos are so tantalizing and many people must want some of your older work. It must be a pain to keep going back and remaking pieces you've made before maybe more than once, most especially when you are always moving into your new designs. You could make them in brass? Hehehe. How is Jarek doing? Steve x...

Hahaha, yes, let me explain 😁 I think I meant stripe, instead of tape. So, I was hoping to order a piece of brass that's been prepared like a tape - quite thin (approx. 0.30mm) and up to 5mm wide. Similar to the fine silver stripe/bezel wire I usually order. I thought the dimensions were correct, but I misread the listing and instead a massive, wide brass sheet/tape arrived hahaha 😂
