This really sounds like Customer Success 🤔
@Wahl_and_Case11 ай бұрын
There is a lot of overlap! The main difference that I have seen in the IT industry is that CSM are more technically able to solve problem for the customer without escalating the issue to technical support. Hope this helps! - bryan

What do I need to become a account manager, any good companies any the DFW area or anything specific like school or certain certifications or training, was looking into the Accounting Manager, great video by the way thank you!
@Wahl_and_Case7 ай бұрын
Hello! Thank you for your comment. Unfortunately, we are currently only working in the Tokyo area, so I can't recommend anything in the DFW area. Regarding courses, I have not heard of any specific to Account Management. My recommendation would be to look for positions that are client-facing, like business development representative, inside sales, or junior account manager. Look for these positions in B2B (Business to Business). These companies will also have Account Management teams, which means there should be an opportunity to grow there. This is not limited to tech, you can also look into working for a brand like Coca-Cola or any other vendor selling their product into a retailer. For skills, sales ability is a must. I always recommend the book To Sell is Human by Dan Pink. It is a great place to start your sales journey. We have another video about 5 skills that every Customer Success Manager needs, you can watch it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3y3cqeKqpugY9U There is a lot of overlap between the two roles, however, a CSM is technical, whereas an Account Manager is more relationship-focused. Hope this helps! -bryan

thank you , What is the master’s degree that will help me become a distinguished account manager with a wonderful future?
@Wahl_and_Case7 ай бұрын
Hello! I am not sure which master's degree would be helpful, but I would focus on getting client facing experience in any B2B company. Most B2B companies are always hiring sales team members, that is where I would start my search. Good luck, hope this helps! -bryan

Can an account manager's career progression ever lead towards holding C-suite roles?
@Wahl_and_Case Жыл бұрын
Hi Himank, Thank you so much for your question! I have never seen that happen directly, an Account manager is generally a mid-career position, so it would be a few steps away from C-suite roles. A typical progression could look like this: Account Manager > Senior Account Manager > Customer Success Director > VP of Customer Success > Chief Customer Officer An alternative route would be to go into a sales or marketing position as those have a more straightforward path to the C-Suite. Hope this helps, thanks again for watching! -bryan

Is an account manager an actual manager in management system?
@Wahl_and_Case Жыл бұрын
Hi Dickson, Thank you for your question! Generally, no. An account manager will be managing active customers, but will not be managing a team internally. I hope this answers your question, please feel free to ask any other questions you have. Thank you again for choosing to learn with us! -Bryan
