"This is good neighbor stuff" There's always at least one from Danny. _Is Corey gonna take a foul on the stack?" "That would be novel" with 8 pennies sitting on the rail. Even got a chuckle out of the other commentator.

Wow that was a one pocket match for the ages. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a match where both players were forced to foul so many times which showed excellent strategy and cue ball execution . I learned a lot watching this match keep it Accu-stats!!

A lot of commenters here say "great match" yada yada yada...I disagree. There was unnecessary intentional fouls, poor shot selection, waaayyy too much time taken between shots, silly mistakes for a top tier professional match. Billy Incardona would have been gnashing his teeth and pulling his hair out had he been in the booth. More than 2 hours to play a race to 3. - Unforgiveable. I could not believe the referee at the end of the match asked the live audience to clap for Deuel. WTH! What applause there was when the match ended was applause for "thank God this thing is finally over!" Having said all this I want to say I do not agree with Gradys rule about spotting balls after there are x number of balls up past the side pockets. The obvious solution to slow play in any discipline of pocket billiards is the shot clock. And about the shot clock - 60 seconds after the balls stop rolling is fine IF there is not an automatic 60 seconds extension after that. Deuel and other painfully slow players will use up the first and second 60 seconds almost every visit to the table. There are two ways to fix that problem - Compromise and give the players 90 seconds and rigidly enforce that. The other way would be to keep the time limit at 60 seconds but to give each player ONE or possibly two 60 second extensions per rack. So they would have to be very judicious about when to use it. And there would be no saving extension seconds - if the player takes only half of the allowable time to shoot he has used up his extension for that rack. These suggested rules should be universally mandatory in One Pocket, Straight Pool and Eight ball.

Don't be silly man. Why don't you reveal your name if you have the impertinence to assail a couple of the best players in the world? I agree with the gentleman above who said he would rather see a thoroughly strategic game rather than speed pool. I recommend the 2019 Gabe Owen/Corey Deuel One Pocket match for some enlightenment regarding the finer points of 1P. In the meantime try to be less of a negative know-it-all.
@f18a2 жыл бұрын
I agree 100%. Taking too much time does not indicate deep strategic thought. And plenty of physical and mental mistakes. Yes, these are top-1%+ players. Only a fool would refute that. Any critical comments are about the match play, not the worthiness of the players. Anybody can have a bad day. That second rack ended with a flurry but it was a hot mess overall.

danny d and maddox should be ashamed of themselves. they both did generally a good job, and showed great knowledge but whining and droning on and on about pace of play was totally inappropriate and as (decent) pool players they know better. 1-one pocket is a thinking game. 2- over and over corey played better shots than they suggested, he's clearly the least predictable one pocket player among the best (in my opinion he is the best). 3- pool, and PARTICULARLY one pocket are not for the fans, and never will be. that's why there are never tournaments where the winner gets 6 figures, it's a shame, and it's a fact. the worst pool game there is is 9 ball (10 ball) and the only reason it's played is to sell out to an audience that will never be large. the best pool games 14.1 and one pocket, can only be enjoyed by purists and there simply aren't enough of us.
@arthurbaocn2 жыл бұрын
I agree. 1P is a very cerebral game, hence the moniker, "the chess of pool". Sometimes a chess player will spend half an hour thinking about the best move. What is the hurry? The pace of a pool game is inversely proportional to one's IQ. Both of these guys make some amazing "moves" which the impatient nine ball player cannot understand. Thank god for Dave Maddox to balance out the abrasive Danny D.
