Ace Combat 2 Bad Ending

This is what happens if you don't stop the missile in time on mission 19: Last Resort.
I felt that not a lot of people have a chance to see the script after the cutscene nor see what the city looked like in the dark
It is a huge city wide explosion that was very scary back in 1996. We don't see stuff this intense in the later AC games.

I did this by accident when I was about 6 and it scared the shit out of me, I had no idea what I'd done wrong. I assumed this was the canon ending and I got so mad that I didn't play this for almost four years. Heavy stuff.

Back in around 97, when I got this game as a birthday present, I was curious about what happen if you don't shoot the missile before it reached the city. So I play along and follow the missile to the city then that cutscene appeared. I will not lie, I have nightmares about that scene for the rest of 97 and didn't touch it until next year. I really thought that somebody on youtube got this ending already, but I serached and found nothing. This is my first youtube video so excuse the darkness.

to be brutaly honest and true story i had a nightmare about that bad endng back in 2001 when i saw that bad ending and then on 9/11/01 i realized that my nightmare came to a bloody reality and that was my premuition or vision of what was going to happen :'-(

I bet this scene gives people nightmares 15 years ago. Check out the in your face first person night vision camera view at 1:15 You got to be really talented to pull that off in 97.

My dear Watson, I beat the game many times (true ending to be exact) before I started following the missile. That is when I find out about this screen. I save the city so many times so I just want to know out of curiousity if there any special dialog. Glad I follow it.

There is no ending like that. just a in game cutscene of your plane going up in the air while the screen goes white and AWACS saying that We're Too Late, St. Ark Is Gone.

That's not SLBM (ballistic missile), but SLCM (cruise missile). Ballistic missile uses rocket engine, while cruise missile uses jet engine. So SLBM can't be chased and shot down by an aircraft.
