@@JohnDoe-ug3su It's not a reference to Dresden. It's a reference to Hamburg, which was a brutal vengeance raid conducted by the RAF and is what coined the term "firestorm". It would also likely be referencing American firebombings that went on over Japan during the war. Most notably Tokyo during Operation Meetinghouse, which was the deadliest single bombing raid of the entire war.
@Post_Stall_Maneuver Жыл бұрын
It shows there are no "good guys" or "bad guys" in war. War is not black and white, never has been, never will be. Ace Combat is unique in its depiction of war. It has no real nations that they must be careful depicting like Call of Duty or any other FPS in the real world, yet it is grounded in modern times with allegorical equivalents of real nations and conflicts. It depicts many of the realities of war from the cockpit of your plane. War crimes on both sides. The stories of civilians and refugees. The toll it takes on those on the front lines (even your wingmen in some games are visibly affectsd by war). My point is that Ace Combat depicts war in a dramatized yet realistic manner: war is hell and there is no good or bad, only survivors. When the crosshairs are on your head, morality often goes out the window.

@Trainwreck123153 жыл бұрын
I see a lot of people comparing this to Dresden or Hamburg, and while I agree with those who are pointing the similarities in names, and I agree, I was surprised to see no one mention the Allied Bombings of Japan. This is a game made by Japanese people in Japan, the allied bombings that just about turned every single Urban center except Kyoto to Ash is an image that every Japanese person will learn. The B-29, the sound of the Raid Siren, the Burning skies, while many remember Harris for his Atrocities in Europe, his true genius would be used in the Pacific where his carefully planned fire bomb raids used on largely wood and paper cities would reduce entire cities to dust. There was a historical study done about atrocities between autocracies and democracies and found that Democracies were far more likely to favor attacking the enemy population, the country itself instead of the enemy armed forces. It makes perfect sense, for an Autocracy the population is only a barrier, they will commit atrocities on them when they get in their way, most of their malice is focused on the enemy forces and POW's. Whereas for a Democracy which would believe that power comes from the people, the entire citizenry of the enemy is a threat. Until every citizen is Dead, Democratized or unable to resist, the population will be a threat to Democracy. "So this is the price we pay for losing" this is in my opinion the most powerful line in the entire mission. The Belkans started this war much like why the Japanese started their war, it was a question of resources, they just needed "More", and for that, the pilot sees the entire city reduced to ashes, countless lives irreversibly destroyed, too many people dead, soldiers dying like dogs from air power. Belkans would later do many terrible things, I'm not in the Belka did nothing wrong camp (Although I am in the Erusea did nothing wrong camp{Even before 7}) however, I cannot blame either country for wanting to make Oseans suffer. Belka saw its own country burned to the ground, Eruseans saw their country destroyed by a natural disaster, flooded by refugees and then their country dismantled twice. Oseans have lost nothing. their cities remain pristine, the worst of the wars would be limited to the far reaches, and their continent largely free from the Ulysses impacts. This is why other than 6 I couldn't sympathize with the allied cause much, ISAF were basically busting down doors to problems they had made themselves and demanding the locals bend to their will, and we're supposed to be the good guys.
@Z_Berkut2 жыл бұрын
Belkan Started the war just like Germany Started the war
@Jusuff2 жыл бұрын
Innocent Japanese and German civilians had to suffer in the hands of the Allies because their countries leaders thought they still had a chance to win. Democracies and dicratorships have both been responsible for civilian bombings because they think that bombing the enemy nation's civilians will make the nation surrender. Instead it makes them angrier which leads to them bombing their enemy in retaliation and then even more innocent lives are lost and the circle goes on. There are rarely ever good sides in war. One side is bad and the other side is less bad or just as bad as the other one.
@pacificfederationpeacekeep9992 жыл бұрын
Interesting argument however lets not forget the following 1. Osea has fought a sum of more than 3 wars prior to the belkan war with jot specified results. So its only natural they and other nationalities hate the belkans for invading, annexing or attempting to do so. Especially if you think that the Osean Federation it self was made so that the many Osean city states would unify against their oppressors 2 Belka had entered a period of expansionism during the 20tb century Which lead to multiple countries to get swallowed whole by them. And no it isn't about just land and resources , there are Also different poeple there who wish to be free , Ustians ect. And seeing from how the liberation of directus went down we can all see that the Ustians didn't have the best relationships with the belkans, and its uknown how they were treated during the pre BW era along side other people's. Its likely that even though its said that the Oseans only funded and supported successionist movements in the areas mentioned for gaining access to certain resources, we never get to know what resources those are , when its Also and even more likely that Osea as the liberal democracy it is could help them , as for both liberating a poeple who suffering under an oppressor and wanted , freedom independence and a proper democracy as well as the beef they had with the belkans 3. Both Eurusia and Belka had authoritarian far right regimes, that came to power under the certain circumstances that the two countries found themselves into, with said regimes having vast public support. I won't blame eurusia for the part that they weren't willing to take refugees since everyone was hit hard. But I will blame them for starting the war and creating a bigger problem than the one they had to solve . I won't blame the people who found "hope" in the face of a false leader that lead them on a war of destruction and suffering, in eurusia Either, they were as a previously mentioned victims of circumstances. On the other hands the belkans (not people but rather the 80s decision makers) took some wrong decisions) With the most notable one being the creation of wanderwuffen , such as the XB-0 , the Excalibur, and the ADF project, instead of the creation of a modern , capable, cohicive fighting force...

I think It is an allegory to the bombing of Hamburg, which was another historic bombing of an important german industrial city which resulted in the same if not bigger massacre of citizens, as well as the complete destruction of its buildings and factories. Also, Hoffnung sounds closer to Hamburg.., in some way. Or this mission might resemble the bombing of Dresden because it was at night, like the real thing? The Blekan War..., without a doubt best ace combat to date right after the japanese version of Electrosphere, or maybe even superior to this last one in its own way. This instalment was a letter of love to the game world, specially after the loathsome childish pathetic game that its predecessor, ac5 was.
