In today's video I'm sharing 7 reasons we are still loving A.C.E. Curriculum! Every year I love this curriculum even more! And this year we have been blessed to add a new student to the homeschool classroom! We currently have a 5th grader, 2nd grader, 1st grader, and Kindergartener in our homeschool. We use ACE PACES for math, english, world building, social studies, and science.
Thanks for spending some time with us today! :)

Thank you so much for your A.C.E. videos. They really helped me in my decision to fully commit to A.C.E. and stop flip flopping curriculums and methods. At the end of the day pointing my children to Christ was the most important thing. Praying God continues blessing your homeschooling journey and your fam.

@@familyfarmhouse Just received the curriculum in the mail...I must say, looking through the PACES, it looks like it can be quite challenging for my kids! Starting to get a little bit of cold feet lol. But we're invested and are looking to make this work, Lord willing. He led us this way, I know He'll get us through this!

I just ordered the 5th grade A.C.E. curriculum for my daughter as our first home school curriculum. I have friends that use it and was introduced to it that way. It seems like it is going to be a good fit for my daughter and for us to travel more and see the places in the USA while we can.

Hi! I just recently found your channel and love it! We are starting ACE homeschool this year for our 4th and 6th graders. I just wanted to ask, if a child tests several grades behind, what do you recommend to get them on their grade level sooner?
@familyfarmhouse
@familyfarmhouse 4 жыл бұрын
I had my child do the diagnostic test at ACEministries.com and restart those PACES where they indicated. It didn't get my child caught up sooner, but it relieved the struggle and stress for my child. I am happy with that. Andrea Mills (on KZbin, deceased now) taught me a lot about that issue. For example, realizing that each child will learn in his/her own time, and that sometimes our ultimate education goal isn't having all the subjects completed by age 18. Some children may go through it slower and graduate later, and possibly live at home longer. Thinking of it that way helped me a lot. I hope that helps. I also added some one-on-one review time (10 min) once or twice per week. It made my child feel much better to review a difficult subject with me. Feel free to keep chatting with me, not that I'm an expert at all :)

I just purchased the ace pace curriculum for my kids 1st and 4th grade. I'm a first time homeschool mom so I'm wondering if you make copies of the pages or let them write in the workbooks? You said you were excited to use the kinder curriculum "again" so that made me curious about how that works.

Megan Krantz I’m excited for you! Enjoy your first year homeschooling! 🥰 I let them write in the workbooks (PACES). Some people erase the pencil marks and reuse them. I’ve done this sometimes, but it’s tedious.

The kindergarten curriculum has teacher‘s manuals that can be used over and over. That’s what I meant when I said “use it again”. 😊

Do you grade your kids work or do you let them grade? Thank you for the update. My kids are currently in school that uses ACE. We are praying to see if they continue or we will go back to homeschool. I have 4 kiddos.1 through 7 grade.

Linda Ledesma that’s great Linda! I bet those ACE schools are wonderful. Is it through a church? I let my oldest grade her schoolwork. My middle does from time to time, but he has the temptation to take advantage of that privilege, so we are helping him as needed 😉 I check all of my first grader’s work.

In one of your videos, you mentioned that it worked better for your kids to do Math on one day and other subjects another. Can you tell me specifically how you outlined this? It may be a help to us as well. Thank you.

Great A.C.E. videos! I made the choice to switch from CLE for my fourth grade daughter. I am considering switching my K/1st grader as well. Do you have experience with their 1st grade learning to read (phonics) program? Tfs blessings to you and your family.

I truly LOVE the 1st grade learning to read program. I did it with my youngest child, and it was a very special year together. It is a gentle approach to reading that is truly engaging for children. Plus the subsequent years build off of what they learn in 1st grade. The curriculum also excels in teaching ciritical thinking. I have seen the benefit of those critical thinking skills for the past few years since we did the 1st grade program. I can't recommend it enough! Thank you for watching and commenting! ~Lindsay

@@familyfarmhouse Thank you for your response. Did you use the Kindergarten A.C.E. before proceeding to the 1st grade? I watched a video that said it's harder to start at the 1st grade reading if you didn't start with Kindergarten. Thanks again

Living by Faith with my third child yes I did the ACE Kindergarten curriculum first and that worked great. However with my second child, he was a few months into first grade when we decided to switch the ACE. He began with the first grade PACES and did not do the initial 12 weeks learning to read portion of 1st grade. The transition went fine for him. We had to spend a little time learning the way ACE’s style of phonics. However, I think if you start at the beginning of 1st grade with the “learn to read” program you and your child will be very successful 😊

It’s hard for me to see ACE in the same light you do. I went to an ACE private school tho, so I guess it’s different. I’ve been going my entire life to ACE, and the school I go to is extremely tiny. I find that ACE is not equipped properly, I mean heck we didn’t even have PE, we didn’t get to study music, so any kind of cool extracurricular activities (besides the ones in the books) and my school was so small (10 kids max whole school) that socialization wasn’t really something I did, or got the hang of. And today I am paying the price for it. As far as the education goes, especially in high school, I felt like I didn’t get much out of it. I attended a one semester college course on English and history and I learned so much stuff from it that my professors insisted I should’ve already known long ago. The education just lacks in so many ways. The younger grades are okay, but 8th grade plus is where it gets lackluster. I just wish I could’ve gone to a more well equipped Christian based school, because I would never choose ACE if I had the choice. Just wanted to share my thoughts here, no hate intended, just a warning

I thought this was a really respectful comment despite disagreeing. I respect your experience. I think two important things to teach children is #1 godly character and #2 the ability to think critically and learn independetly. Once a child has the foundation of these 2 things I like to hope that they can set out to learn whatever they want. They have the tools. I notice in your reply that you disagreed very kindly, graciously, and respectfully. Without knowing you, I think you displayed your own good character that stands out from the rest :)

@@familyfarmhouse thank you! And, the independent learning is great and all, but unfortunately with my school, this meant having little to no help in my subjects. I often had to skip problems because neither I, nor my supervisors, could help me. There's so much I missed out on by going to that school, but I hope everyone else's experience is better
@cndikuno
@cndikuno 3 жыл бұрын
Sorry about the experience.....I think the issues were with the school and not the curriculum....the schools should endeavour to place extracurricular activities for children and not just let them sit through pace work. Another way to learn and advance yourself is to read and read other books that are not necessarily the Paces. The supervisors should also ensure proper oversight of what the children work on so as to avoid children moving ahead with gaps. The curriculum ensures mastery so supervisors or moms should just ensure that is what the child is getting....look for Andrea mills channel(The mills family) and get some tips as well.

@@cndikuno Yeah, I honestly think it's something wrong with the school. In my old private school using ACE they had subject classes which included PE. They also had extracurricular activities.

Summary of This Video = THE BENEFITS of ACE (and PACE): #1) Kids work Independently and learn Responsibility. Kids take Initiative and Action. #2) Ease of adding another student to the ACE curriculum. #3) ACE encourages kids to do Quiet Times (and SSR = Silent Sustained Reading), which builds Patience and Concentration/Focus (snd helps them to build Attention skills and pay active Learning/attention to reading materials). #4) Real-life examples of Helping and Serving others. #5) PACES apply the Gospel to Kids' Real Life. #6) Strong description of Biblical Roles. #7) [Academic] Learning proper Grammar and Pronunciation. Learning Communication Skills and how to communicate.

I love the fact that this connects the child with God! That is wonderful. Does it also challenge them academically? I saw in the one example of social studies that it spoke about Grandma coming to visit. I am confused how it is tied into History? Could you help explain that? I am looking for a curriculum that really teaches the kids well, with a Christian influence being very important also. :) Great video - God Bless. :)

I’m very pleased with the academic challenge of this curriculum for my children. Social studies covers history, geography, community, people groups, vocations and training, travel, communication, conservation, etc. You could google ACE scope and sequence to see more of what is covered. It’s a very comprehensive curriculum in my opinion. Thanks for watching! 😃
