Great video and content Leander! The intro nailed it 😂 There was one thing i sort of (not disagree with exactly, but) have a small issue with internally. You talked about the take-home challenge. If they give you a rough estimate of how long you should be able to do it in, i tend to think it can be a good idea to not pour 10x that amount of time into it, simply because if you do, and they basically assume that you only spent 4-6hrs on it, but you actually spent 30hrs..well, then you have shot yourself in the foot by delivering something on the premise of 4-6hrs of work and you actually spent 30hrs on. To clearify, i do not disagree with you, i just find it to be a hard situation to navigate and to get right. Yeah, a long rant this one, sorry bout that, hehe.

That’s actually a very valid point Kristian, thanks for sharing. I should have made it clearer in the video that this isn’t a great situation or something to strive for, for the exact point you raise where you mis-set expectations with the company if you spend way longer than they suggest. It’s a tricky one to navigate for sure, and why these take home challenges can be so frustrating. I would say spending as long as it takes for you to feel like you did your best work is the “right” approach here 😊

@@leanderangst Yeah, thats why i really cant justify NOT spending the time to get the best result independent of how long it takes.. hehe. As you say, frustrating indeed :)

Ironically, I lost a job because I didn't jump into a solution for the whiteboard challenge. It was a startup and they felt that I wouldn't be able to move at a fast enough pace, with all my questions.

조승연 작가님. 주옥같은 내용이 너무 많은데요. 영상을 길다고 생각하는 사람들이 쉽게 접근할 수 있도록 숏폼으로도 만들어주시면 어떨까요? 항상 응원합니다😊

noob question, U said that you are Product designer, but the tittle is UI UX designer, does that mean that this vid applied for UI UX designer in general or just UI UX in product design? thank you
@leanderangst3 ай бұрын
No this is a great question! Product designers are basically UX/UI designers. The title 'product designer' often just implies that the role will be focused on the full design spectrum, which includes the ux research, user flows, wireframes, all the way through the final UI and user testing. Hope that helps clarify!
