If you listen to exactly what ace says when he says he's been sober for 17 years. He never says for the last 17 years, or consecutively. I think its a rough estimation not an AA chip. Either way he's the coolest member of kiss by a longshot.

I feel so bad for Ace sometimes. I can't imagine having a "reunion" tour last FIVE years. I don't think he wanted it to last that long. And being in Kiss could be dangerous to him and his health. I'm glad he got out okay. He's the one I'd most like to talk with over a beer. Gene would be next. Maybe not Paul, because his responses seem so "scripted." I supposedly left KISS for a solo career but then sat around doing nothing for five years before crapping out three very patchy studio albums, half written by other people, before losing my record contract completely.
