True story: I was never that big of a Kiss fan, never hated them but I was pretty dismissive of them, I thought they were more gimmick than substance. But watching a GuitarMoves interview with Ace, made me fall in love with the player and the personality. Now I can't stop listening to Kiss! Ace is national treasure!

I think Ace is always genuine. You might not like who he is but what you see is what you get. I personally enjoy his solos in the classic songs as well as some of his solo stuff. I think he's funny too.

I have Used and Abused every narcotic I was warned about and when Ace does interviews, he always sounds like the guy I imagined I would become if I didn't get clean. The 70-year-old teenager.

How is it KISS a NYC band who were massive in the 1970s were never the musical guests on Saturday Night Live? especially with Ace and Belushi being tight? come to think of it neither were Ramones unless i missed it..thats so weird

Knowing both Ace and John's substance issues and erratic behaviour I think its easy to see why KISS were never the musical guests on SNL. Can you imagine the shape Ace would be in come performance time late on a Saturday night?!?

KISS and the Ramones were not the classic bands you think they are today. At the time they were HIGHLY controversial, waaaay out there, most radio wouldn't touch most of their music. Even for SNL at that time, either band would have been an extreme choice.

@@kjnodwell I saw KISS live many times. Ace would have knocked it out of the park - guaranteed. We knew he was stoned most times but he never made a freaking mistake, unlike Jimmy Page who was an incredibly sloppy live guitarist. Ace was/is the Ace.🎸

I read somewhere a long time ago that the musical guests for SNL was the choice of whoever was that week's host. Most movie stars have lousy taste in music and that 's probably why The Ramones and KISS were never on the show.
